Firstly, yeah the fight was a bit fo a joke...but look at the people Roy Jones Junior defended his titles against...it happens in boxing...

And come on...Calzaghe is way above Froch...there is barely a shred of risk in fighting him and more importantly nothing that would cement his legacy to gain from the fight...

And Froch may arguably be above Bika now, but when Clazaghe fought Bika was Froch really above Bika?

    Come on guys...don't be jokers...

Also the "great" Sven Ottke fought him 3 years later for his IBF title so the fact it was Warren and the WBO made no odds...

  4. I'd just sooner see him beat another American undefeated supposed prospect.

They simply don't need each other for either's legacy, they do nothing for each other IMO. If Froch won, Joe was **** anyway, If Joe won, Froch was overhyped.

Froch shoul concentrate on clearing out the SMW division, there are some decent fights out there, he's only just tasted his first Title, I'd like to see him go for more.

fighters like calzaghe and sven ottke are the reason boxing has lost popularity

the week of the calzaghe jones fight a guy in work said to me so if calzaghe wins he will go down as one of the best ever fighters that ever lived, top 10???????
i said he might make top 100 if your lucky, he looked at me as though i had 10 heads

I think if Froch beat Calzaghe it would do a hell of a lot for his legacy...So the above is a bit of a silly comment...

No-one has beat Calzaghe...he is considered the best smw of all-time one of the greatest british boxers of all-time and Top 100 ATG by the majority...how could beating him do nothing for his legacy?

Froch's the WBC champion yes, but Calzaghe's status will in no-way be enhanced by beating Froch...he's held the strap before...

If he Fought Dawson on the other hand...Dawson is atleast more proven at LHW and has an IBF belt to offer making Calzaghe a genuine 2 weight world champion as opposed to the Ring LHW champion...I would love to see Calzaghe clear up the LHW division and become undisputed champion at two weights...I don't think he'll do it but I'd enjoy watching it happen if he did...

How is Bika 'clearly inferior' to Froch?

Manfredo, maybe, but no-one has ever claimed that that fight was made for any other reason than because HBO wanted someone who American viewers had heard of rather than Robert Stieglitz. If Calzaghe had fought Stieglitz instead (or Froch) then he very likely wouldn't have been in a position to fight Hopkins, for instance.

As you've pointed out, for the past 3 years Froch has been calling out Calzaghe, but think of the who Calzaghe has faced in those 3 years, Lacy, Kessler, Bhop, and a big payday against a Jones, Calzaghes career was really taking off then. In my opinion he was though with mere defenses, he knew he was coming to the end and wanted to cash in his chips. The Manfredo fight can be explained as an attempt at boosting his name in America, and Bika i believe was a mandatory.

Why on earth at that stage of his career would Calzaghe consider stepping down in his quality of opposition, and his size of paycheck, as a fight against Froch would have seriously meant?

I'm not defending Calzaghes record (which personally I find to be very good), i'm just saying that at that stage of his career a fight against Froch would have been a ludacris idea.

And also, In my opinion Calzaghe did take on practically ALL British opposition throughout his reign, for example, Eubank, Reid, Woodhall (all former world champs) and David Starie.

because dawson campaigns in calzaghe's division and has a vastly superior body of work.

this is nothing like witter-hatton. calzaghe never made outlandish claims like 'get yourself a world title' whilst holding the ****ing WBU belt. froch never worked his way up to the number one spot behind calzaghe whilst he was still at SMW. as far as i'm aware he still hasn't made it into that position.

froch only became relevant a week and a half ago.

Ok see your point.Say froch fights taylor next and wins, thats a good scalp, he'd be up in a position where calzaghe would have to fight him or 1 or 2 others. What i'm trying to say is mate, i see froch only a fight or 2 away from being in the ring with calzaghe.

He won't, stop the hype about Froch he has beaten Pascal --- who? with problems! and suddenly he's the best thing since sliced bread.
    Come on.

Pascal was a live fighter, and game.I'm not hyping him, its my opinion. He's not the best since sliced bread, who said that ???? Kessler aside, i dont see anyone beating froch for a while, maybe taylor, he might be too busy for him.Who would you like to see calzaghe fight ?

  15. Froch is 2 fights away from Calzaghe? Calzaghe is ONE if not NO fights away from retirement!!

And for the guy who compared Calzaghe to Ottke, get a ****ing grip.

The reason Ottke spoiled boxing is because he was a CHEAT. I'v never saw Joe rob anyone, the only contentious decisions he's ever had were Hopkins & Reid, and I believe he genuinely won both.

People were getting points taken off them against Ottke for punching him in the face for ****'s sake.

How can anyone say Boxing has LOST popularity because of Joe? If he'd have sat on the WBO bauble for another 10 years nobody Stateside or globally would give a **** about him, so where's the shift in popularity now he's a household name?

What ever point you're trying to make, you're getting mixed up mate.
