    Bailey,

Joe made the call to Roy, just months after laughing that he was past his best, during an interview in the Setanta Sports studio. (shown below)

Go to 6 min 30 of the video.

Then a few months later, he phoned up Roy wanting the fight.

I was mistaken about him offering Roy 50/50 in the article. It was actually Roy who offered to spilt everything 50/50, with the possibility of having two fights, one in the U.S. and one in the U.K. Joe was happy to agree, despite what he'd said just a few months earlier.

Below are Frank W's thoughts on the deal, amongst other things that are very interesting.

Roy was 0-3 in 2006, when Frank W tried to get Joe the fight.

When they finally met, yes Roy was on a 3 fight winning streak. But look at who he fought? Anthony Hanshaw, Prince Bad Ajamu and Trinidad.

Do you really think that the Tito that Roy fought in 2008, was the same version that Hop fought in 2001?

The version of Tito that Roy fought, hadn't fought in nearly three years, and he was unable to make the agreed catchweight of 170 pounds. He came in two pounds heavier, but Roy let him off.

Tarver had already beaten him at that point, and nobody is saying that Joe fought Roy coming off of a loss. But he was more than willing to in 2006.

What do you mean 'knocking' ?

There was only Del Valle who knocked him down, and Del Valle was a good fighter.

Again, tell us what happened AFTER Merchant's interview? :good

He fought who Lou DiBella wanted him to fight.

Dibella didn't want him to fight Collins at that point. He wanted him to unify against Reggie Johnson.

So what if Hop avenged his defeat?

That was ELEVEN YEARS after that interview.

    You need to try harder.

He fought Vinny in one of only 6-7 fights at the weight, before moving up and unifying at 175, and then winning a belt at HW.

Do I need to mention Salem, Pudwell, Veit, Thornberry, Mkrtchyan, Manfredo, Ashira, McIntyre, Sobot, Ferreyra?

We have covered this yes he and his dad split as boxer/trainer but they still talked and it was his dad that talked him out of fighting Buster Douglas and that was well after 1992 so quit posting opinions/falsehoods on here please.

Yes, Jones was brutally and embarrassingly KOed in Australia he was so scared the first knockdown it didn't even look like a punch landed very similar to Dr. Vitali Klitschko shattering Herbie Hide's Glass Jaw :rofl

You have been given list after list by several posters in this thread and you just make excuses or give your opinion which we have also asked you to stop doing multiple times and you won't.

After the Merchant Interview Jones fought the worst two fighters on the graphic ended up losing a rematch with Hopkins and didn't fight DM and didn't fight Collins who was in the ring with him so that is 2 wins out of 5 fights.

    Herol,

I've bumped a great thread for you titled - Calzaghe, Jones and Hopkins.

    It's by General Zod.

    Get on it.

    Rico Spadafora,

That was the first time they'd spoke in 6 years.

How was he BRUTALLY knocked out in Australia?

They're not excuses. The onus is on YOU to prove that Roy ducked and dodged.

I can provide General Zod's original links where Roy and Greg Fritz both state that Don King wanted options on Roy for a Benn fight. I can also produce links where Stanley Levin said he didn't want to turn Roy over to King for Benn and Liles fights.

We've seen the links where Roy dropped his 175 title and asked Holy for a fight, who wasn't interested.

The only person he really dismissed was Steve Collins.

We've heard Eubank admit to not wanting Roy at 168 in his prime.

Above are just a few examples.

So tell me who Roy avoided, with EVIDENCE.

    READ CAREFULLY.

Lou DiBella of HBO wanted a unification against Reggie Johnson.

Collins hadn't fought for around two years.

DiBella liked the idea of Collins facing Calzaghe, with the winner potentially fighting the winner of the Roy Vs Reggie fight.

It's on Zod's thread titled - Calzaghe, Jones and Hopkins that I've just bumped.

Have a look on the first page.

The Hopkins rematch was 11 years after the interview with Merchant, because he priced himself out in 2002.

Also, in 1999, what had Hopkins done?

He and Roy were also TWO divisions apart at that point, and Roy was looking to unify at 175.

We've discussed the DM fight to death.

Roy didn't want to go to Germany, and DM wouldn't go to America.

Roy also went on to fight Ruiz, Tarver, Johnson and Calzaghe, and he fought on HBO over 25 times.

Your post was pathetic.. It wasn't worth his time.

We have PROOF that Spinks natural weight was 190..

I have no freaking idea why you are so proud of yourself for posting his weights before fights he was obviously training for, and obvisouly cutting weight.

When I weighed in EVERY weekend first day and second day, was that proof that I wasn't weight cutting, and it was my natural weight? Stupid Bat...:patsch

    Actually no...

Everyone was impressed with how Jones moved up in weight and handled heavy handed Toney's power shots.
