"I'm not chasing after Roy Jones. Be honest, Roy Jones is a good fighter and I don't want tough fights, I just want big money." Joe Calzaghe - The Daily Mirror - June 1 - 1999 - p300 "No Ordinary Joe: The Autobiography of Joe Calzaghe" by Joe Calzaghe and Brian Doogan - "I have no interest any more in Roy Jones and no interest in Antonio Tarver. Jones is washed up and Tarver was never that good anyway, he just caught Jones when Jones was shot and Johnson did the same." Antonio Tarver TKO2 Roy Jones Jr, 15/05/2004 Glen Johnson KO9 Roy Jones Jr, 25/09/2004 Joe Calzaghe v Roy Jones Jr, 18/11/2008
Sorry to ruin it for you- Calzaghe, easily. We're talking about a top 5 P4P guy against a guy who hasn't won a world class level fight in FIVE YEARS.
It was posted earlier today by someone on the thread called 'sorry calzaghe your resume is weakest ever'. I have no reason to think the guy just made it up for no reason. Will try and find out myself for sure.
The best recent Calzaghe quotes on Jones are on this clip. Listen carefully from the 6:30 mark on. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWDtzdAYTOA

"I could probably give Jones a tough fight, probably the best fight he's ever had," said Calzaghe. "But I know my capabilities and unless I got paid the crown jewels I wouldn't want to risk it." roy is way past his prime. reflexes have faded, foot speed nowhere what it used to be. the only thing he still has going for him is his hand speed. yeah, he's shot, when you compare jones now to how he was just five years ago. the fact that even in his dimished state he's still a top lightheavy shows you just how great a prime jones was. i wouldn't bet money on roy beating calzaghe, but i wouldn't be suprised if he did.
They're two different men; the legs have gone. There is no spring in them anymore. His style in itself used to bamboozle a lot of opponents.
