Joe Calzaghe v Roy Jones jr..?????

I think more people are upset at the whole "I wouldn't want to be the last person to KO RJJ and end his career" bit that Calzaghe clung to for years/months/weeks and then suddenly he's ready to fight a "barely past it" RJJ.

Personally I don't think this is Joe's last fight so I'm not AS upset about it as others.

 

its not because of the money because he could have made alot more against pavlik, its because 50 years from now future boxing fans will be brain washed when they look at his record. they won't know that it was a 43 year old bernard hopkins and a finished rjj. they will see the names and label him great when he is no where near that status.

That doesn't make it better though.

Most people would usually like their fighters to stick to their words...and when a guy says he wants to fight somebody and won't fight someone else but then he turns around and fights the guy he said he wouldn't fight...people get butt hurt.

I guess it comes down to your honor standards basically.

Calzaghe saw Lacy and Kessler as his legacy fights, so he only wants big money now....

Whether or not people agree is a different matter but many boxers do the same, DLH said he didnt wanna fight Hatton at Wembley Stadium cos Ricky was too small, yet yesterday he tells everyone he's fighting Manny

 

this fight should of happened years later . better late then never. plus both are shells of there former selves. it's just that joe hasn't lost thats all

 

I dont know that for sure. remember, Calzaghe isn't as fast, and his he had much better power when he was younger too.

 

right on. alot of peolpe forget that joe was KOING fools left and right he was dangerous and alot of people just didn't want to fight him at or near his peak ask B-hop lacy though the joe he fought was past it enough for him to steam roll but he found out the hard way

he's about as shot as you can possibly go, land anything flush and he almost certainly goes down

 

Kessler is better than Pavlik and Calzaghe dealt with him.....there's always one more fighter in line

to say kessler is better than pavlik is stupid, he may actually be better than pavlik stylistically if they fight(you never know) but based on accomplishments and just general look at the styles and power and heart etc you clearly CLEARLY see Pavlik > Kessler in almost everyway
