Calzaghe has not (to my knwledge) relinquished his 168 lb belt. He has not said that this is definitely his last fight. He would be foolish to pass up on such a jackpot as the Jones fight, as Jones is pressing for it and there is considerable fan interest. Pavlik's still going to be around (If AA doesn't KO him) IMO, he will fight Pavlik, later.
Some very valid points....... I just did not want to see Joe wasting time, its precious in Boxing.. If like a lot of you do, see Roy as a very substancial opponent , then it isn't time wasted.. I just thought after Roys numerous damaging losses , its a royale step backwards , and if the cash wasn't on the table, Roy brings little else..
Calzaghe simply won't be ready for the counters coming his way...because he won't expect them coming that way : On the money and much faster than he anticipated !! He will have to close out his career at home against possibly a guy like Clinton Woods !!
