Okay guys, this is the deal - Joe needs to fight these five guys in the same night, if he defeats one he only gets the regular 1minute inbetween rounds break before fighting the other one. First up is the '88 Mike Tyson Vs Tyson: I think this would be an easy fight for Joe. He's a true champion so he wouldn't be scared, and this spelt trouble for Tyson who relied on intimidation. Plus Calzaghe could outbox Tyson, and use his superior handspeed and movement. Since Tyson never came from behind to win I think Calzaghes flurries would get to him by the 2nd round and he'd be knocked out cold. Then he'd have a one minute break before... Vs '98 Lennox Lewis: Lewis has the reach advantage but Calzaghe has the better handspeed and footspeed so would move in and out with ease. Plus if journeymen like Rahman and McCall could flatten Lewis, then a legend like Calzaghe could do it easily. 1st round KO. Vs '64 Muhammad Ali: This one could be a bit tougher, Ali was a real champ but Calzaghe was faster and Ali had technical flaws Joe would expose. Ali was hard to break down so I see Joe taking 5 rounds to break him down. Vs '05 Wladimir Klitschko: This one was just thrown in for comic relief, really, there couldn't be an easier fight for Joe against this robot of a fighter. Klitschko is not fast enough, he would be outboxed and stopped easily with his china chin and wonky blood sugar levels. Vs '95 Oliver McCall: Just to test Joes punching power against a very durable fighter. Possibly the best chin in the history of the heavyweight division - It has never been cracked. Until now, that is. No way McCall can handle Calzaghes flurries - And don't think his stamina would be affected after having fought and stopped Tyson, Lewis, Ali and Klitschko. Calzaghe has the best stamina of all time, so his punch output wouldn't be affected. McCall is just a journeyman so he'd smother him to death over 4 rounds. Thoughts? I'm expecting at least a quarter of you to agree with me, although perhaps I've been a little harsh on Joe suggesting it'd take him so long to beat Ali and McCall. Oh, and I might aswell share my revised all-time P4P list. 1. Joe Calzaghe 2. Mikkel Kessler 3. Jeff Lacy (only Calzaghe has beaten him who is the best ever, therefore a perfect record) 4. Mario Veit 5. Sugar Ray Robinson (Toss up between Robinson and Chris Eubank, but I was generous to the old timers and gave Ray the nod)
Getting a wee bit pissed with all the joe love going about then? IMO he looses all of these fights by KO. I do agree with most of your post but i mean Jeff Lacy only at 3... what were you thinkingatsch! The man is a certified GOAT. Joe only got the descsion. Jeff had him out in nearly every round. The only reason that people were discussing Joe vs Rocky was that rocky at some points in his carrier weighed 180, at least thats why i did. Meaning that Rocky didnt have a great size advantage over joe thats all.
Depends on what your definition of success is. Clearly your idea of "success" is winding up good posters like Old Fogey and wasting their time by pretending to believe Marciano didn't injure any of his opponents. Yeh, I guess that requires subtelty. I just wanted to make a point in light of the absurd Calzaghe Vs Marciano thread.
