A fight I've always gone back & forth on. Sometimes I pick Ward & other times I pick Joe. I currently have it a draw - seeing as both men never lost.

Calzaghe by SD. I think judges would favour his busy workrate.

Horrible fight. Could go either way. Very dull, messy fight.

Picked Ward but Calz had a habit of producing a surprise result and he was proven to be hard to beat but then again so was Andre.
One things for sure it would be an ugly, boring maul.

I've always felt Carl Froch beats Joe Calzaghe...that Froch is just dismissed because of one very bad off night with Ward.

But I definitely in my mind see Joe beating Ward...the 11th and 12th rounds of froch-ward when froch finally got in the pocket it looked different....Joe would be in that pocket all night

Froch also lost to Kessler and barely got past Andre Dirrell.

Calzaghe. Superior work rate, speed and not as reliant on being able to fight rough/dirty. Ward would need a specific referee and favorable venue IMO. It would be close, competitive and ugly, something like the Calzaghe-Hopkins fight. Prime Ward fights a bit like old Hopkins and Calzaghe wasn’t prime by then too.

That was also a quickly wearing down Kessler too. Injuries were piling up and I always felt Dirrell won that match ever so slightly.

Ward outsmarts him, Calzaghe was a good fighter but has became a bit overrated by some

I love Joe Calzaghe, but I’m slightly favoring Andre Ward by a close decision.

agreed. add to that Ward was not as good of a counter puncher as a Hopkins or Toney. The hand speed and busy workrate of Joe could be decisive in this one.

Ward for me.. Do people think Ward is going to stand there and let Calzaghe shoe shine him with feather dusters?

Ward had an extremely high ring IQ , a lot of physical strength and an immense level of mental stamina and focus. . He may not be a high workrate type of guy , but unlike James Toney , his high level stamina was in his movement. Ward legs and body were never in the same place for very long. . He was a very dynamic fighter on his feet.
He would pick his shots against Calzaghe and either move or ruffle him up in close. . Joe won't land in bunches on Ward as easy as he landed them on Jeff Lacy.

It's ma tough fight .. Ward may have been better but Cal threw so many damn shots and had that exceptional stamina ... Ward you;d have to take the role of aggressor to a level I'm not sure he was comfortable or able .. still, I favor Andre by decision ..

Never pick against Ward, unless maybe if he's fighting Jones, Spinks, or Charles.

I think Hopkins and Toney would probably do the job as well. But it is not a given that is for sure
