Right now Ward is at a similar level to B Mitchell in achievement, though I expect Ward to be a better fighter, but right now, he hasnt proven much other than a bit of hype.
B Mitchell was a 2 time WBA SMW champ
He beat #1 Liles (something Ward is praised for doing) by KO
drew with future 2 weight champ Girard
beat Siaca twice who went on to become WBA SMW champ who beat Mundine
beat former MW champ JC Green who beat a prime Joppy before Joppy was beaten by Trinidad or Hopkins.
Mitchell only lost by SD to Ottke and was only ever beaten clearly once as a SMW. Many felt Mitchell deserved that win. Mitchell was considered to be a true SMW champ at one stage.
Consider Liles, Siaca and Girard are more accomplished SMWs than Bika, AA or Green.
Ward would be held higher if he were to clearly beat Froch, but that hasnt happend

You really are destroyed by that Hopkins loss. So much so that you would love to believe that a hype job like Dirrell could beat the best SMW ever atsch

 

I'm not sure if he beats any of them. He only had a couple of real fights before he retired. Given his lack of fundamental skills Abraham, Johnson and Froch would be bad match ups do to their power. Dirrell's superior skills and length would give him an advantage. Ward would just beat him do to the class differential. I'd favor him against this old shopworn version of Johnson and against Abraham do to Abe's low output and the fact he's been exposed thoroughly.
