Myth. He finished his career with the same style that he started it with.

Going on all of the available information i could see Joe getting stopped, he might be ahead when he gets stopped but it's not unlikely. That or he probably takes a close U.D.

    wtf is all this ****

jones and hopkins didnt want to fight him

i think hopkins won the fight and prime jones would have won aswelll

but they wanted nothing of calzaghe and jones was happy picking up easy $5 million paychecks off hbo for nothing and b hop wasnt gunna go to 168 to fight him

yeah he didnt stop noone for real, who did b hop stop that was for real

Hopkins didn't beat a prime Tarver. But he did beat him with his ring smarts. Sure, Joe C has his volume, but that could change with a rangy fighter with a stiff jab in his face. HIghly doubtful Joe would have 'battered' him...

I don't call Hopkins a puncher. Calzaghe was always a high workrate accumulation slapper, his hand troubles didn't change his style.

Like it or not Cardiff isn't a boxing stronghold, nobody knew who the **** Calzaghe was and he showed zero initiative to make himself known.

Roy Jones was another one guilty of not challenging himself against dangerous fighters, two wrongs don't make a right.

No. I actually followed Lacy's career and thus knew that he was all hype.

Quite what a midget brawler who has been exposed coutless times has got to do with a tall rangy proven lightheavyweight i don't know.

hand porblems did change his style

he had to throw much more punches and rely on speed, where as around the eubank fight he could punch

eubank been in there with benn, and himself said he couldnt believe how hard calzaghe hit

in terms of calzaghe making himself known

i think its all down to warren

apart from naz, calzaghe was all he had and wasnt gunna take any chances with him

now with all his olympic and up and coming fighters, warren can afford to make big ass ppv shows and make sure they all well known, aswell as kevin mitchel and other

    like degale for example

but its not like hopkins was a ppv king during his reign either, but he did have hbo and showtime
pacquiao didnt really do much to make himself known in the way mayweather did

but his position in his home country and uncle bob along with hbo did a hell of a job makin him this popular

    promoter plays a big part

look at froch, best fighter in the uk atm, fighting all the best guys in his weight class, but he aint getting no coverage in the uk thanks to malone

Hatton is an example of a guy who wanted to test himself, he didn't succeed, but at least he tried. Calzaghe was quite happy fighting stiffs for paydays in Cardiff, thats all there is to it.

If you watched his career in it's entirety you would know that his style changed very little, he never had clean stoppages early career and he certainly didn't have them at the end of his career. He always had a workrate based style.

Given the fact that he got put on the canvas twice at lightheavy, this against guys without stoppages for years and used to hang his chin out so much, i don't think it's unreasonable to consider a stoppage loss. Calzaghe close U.D is likely.

if u are so desperate for a calzaghe loss, go back in a time machine and tell roy jones he should have taken the offer

the man fought bernard hopkins at a new weight in vegas and got dropped
    big ****ing whooop

then jones dropped him with a forearm

i guess we gunna give jones credit now for knocking the **** outta hpkins with rabbit punches and low blows

i guess jones dropping hopkins like this means pascal will drop him aswell

oh no wait he did, then went on to beat the **** out of him

so i guess tarver will certainly drop joe the, but wait, joe will do what he did his whole career

    win

This picture is actually quite funny. Gave me a good laugh.

As for the business at hand.......

You're right, all Joe did was win........but against who?

Calzaghe very well might have won this fight had it occurred.....but it would be stiff challenge. I see Tarver being able to halt Joe in his tracks with the yab and I also see Joe being able to slap at him and accumulate points that way. I do not see Joe being able to stop Tarver, but I could see how Tarver could stop Joe. Just saying.

    glad u enjoyed it

i think syle wise anyone who throws alot of punches gives tarver **** because all he does is cover up

allowing joe to just throw and throw and throw

now he wasnt prime during the fight but b hop took tarvers heart within 4 rounds

shot jones, who was better when he fought calzaghe, could have stopped tarver in the 3rd fight they had if he went for it

all joe would have to do is be joe and his work rate would force tarver into submission where he would get stopped

tarver wouldnt be able to keep up any style of winning against calzaghe as i dont think hes got the ability nor the heart he would need to keep working towards a win or stoppage against him

calzaghe with good hands, who could hit, people who say calzaghe always just pitter pattered and slapped are idiots, probably stops him with clean punches

calslappy would either win a wide ud or stop him with a barrage of unanswered punches when tarver would continually go into his defensive mode of just sticking his arms up without any movement and joe would not stop working all night

with the defence hopkins has, using movement of feet, head movement, holding and ducking, he give calzaghe problems

but when tarver gets hit he just stands up straight, square and doesnt throw back

joe would have a field day with him unless tarver loaded his gloves and landed something huge within 4 rounds

"All he does is cover up..." - False statement. Explains your position.

Guys like Reid and Kessler gave Calzaghe real trouble. This is a close fight in any event.

No version of Calzaghe stops Tarver, not the old slappy version or the young slappy version.
