Dawson is the one that doesn't fit because of age. Fightong Ward was a big mistake in hindsight. So maybe it is more likely the method then as we don't see it with other trainers.
I don’t know. I just wish I knew if Tarver was legit or not. Because that would make it four fighters that it happened to.
It's hard to tell for certain but would give him the benefit of the doubt as he was especially bad against Hopkins without any other reasonable explanation. I'll read up what I can and see if I can dig anything else up.
I'm sorry you believe a pro boxer found the secret to only losing pure muscle when cutting just 10 pounds (these guys routinely cut 15-20 lbs in water for literally every fight) and for whatever reason would implement such a ******ed approach.
There is absolutely no difference. The human body and it's principles do not change because one calls themselves a boxer or bodybuilder. Everyone holds water and the methodology of dropping or losing it is across the board. You carb out when you bulk, you build muscle but also retain water more easily. You cut carbs when you cut, which causes you to lose water. Roy did not gain 10 lbs of lean muscle or lose 10 pounds of lean muscle. I absolutely call this claim crap for reasons stated. The human body just doesn't work this way. Muscle mass doesn't even naturally hold, it's not something you have to "lose.". And I don't trust anything coming from the horses mouth, as most of the crap they fed the public was to deny the obvious roid use. I'm not even knocking the roids, as they all did it. Just saying, we should take the training camp claims with salt.
I’m not sure what your point is. The scales were wrong for the first weigh-in. Roy weighed-in at 199 pounds at the 2nd attempt. If you minus 3 pounds for his clothing, he was 196 pounds, with around 6% body fat. That attests to the statements made by Mackie Shilstone and Thomas Hauser.
I honestly don’t know if you’re being serious or not. I don’t know if you’re trolling or just being argumentative. I’ve given you the weights and the measurements, provided by Marc Ratner of the NSAC, Mackie Shilstone and Thomas Hauser. I’ve given you the title of the documentary covering the build up. I’ve given the dates of when the Tarver fight was signed, and who Roy negotiated with first and why he’d kept his HW physique throughout the year. Everything I’ve said can be backed up. Stop being silly. He was around 196 pounds with a low percentage of body fat, and he went down to 175 for the weigh-in, then back up to 185 as per HBO’s fight night weigh-in. Yes, it wasn’t 25 pounds of muscle. It was 196 with a low percentage of body fat, to 185 fight night with a low percentage of body fat. Go and look at some photos or go and look at the fights. He burnt around 10 pounds of actual muscle. Chad Dawson and Chris Byrd did the same, but they didn’t burn as much in such a short space of time.
Of course there’s a huge difference. You’re chilling at home doing what you want, whereas Roy was in camp training for a fight. What the hell did Roy gain then? In most of his LHW fights, he was weighing in the low 180’s on fight night. Many of his weights were registered between 181-183 pounds. Mackie says that Roy went to him heavy at 192 pounds, and they changed his body fat percentage from just under 9% down to 6%. He registered 199 pounds on HBO’s scales. Minus the clothes, it was 196 pounds. How did he get from 181-183 to 196? Go and look at the difference between his physiques for Gonzalez and Woods, before then comparing them to his physique against Ruiz. He added muscle mass.
And muscle mass is 79% water. Lol Jones "transformation" just isn't this uncanny struggle it's been made out to be. Especially in the world of boxing where body water/scale manipulation is routine. It was largely constructed as an excuse for Jones' slowing reflexes as an older fighter. As pointed out 193 to 199...is an average daily fluctuation. It doesn't even need to be explained.
Man, you are a weird dude. I gave my thoughts, you've been quoting me ever since with novel length responses and bizarre questions arguing my point, and then accuse me of being argumentative. You think Roy Jones burned more weight off than Byrd? Lol. That is simply not true. Byrd was genuinely over 200 lbs. That's not why Byrd fell off anyway. He was old and hoping he stood a better chance against smaller dudes.
Ha! So he did add muscle to bulk up for Ruiz? What are you talking about a daily fluctuation? Adding the extra mass wasn’t difficult. The difficulty was for him to get from 196 pounds, with 6% body fat, to 175 for the weigh-in, in a period of around 2 months. Why don’t you watch the fight, genius. Come and explain how he was running on fumes for the last 3 rounds, when it wasn’t a high paced fight. Come and explain the Byrd and Dawson situations. Come and explain Mackie Shilstone’s comments. It’s all nonsense, right? Seeing as though you didn’t encounter any issues in your spare time. Brilliant.
