Calzaghe takes Froch to school and wins a near shutout.

Froch is my favorite fighter of the last 20 years. I'm still second guessing my decision on giving up my Froch vs Ward tickets in ATC in 2011. A man with limited skills who willed himself to victories, he reminds me in some ways of Marciano or Battling Nelson.
But Calzhage is a bridge too far. A consensus best or 2nd best all time super middleweight (Roy Jones), Calzhage would have posed a lot of problems for The Cobra. Joe would have turned Carl like a top, throwing a blizzard of arm punches with a hand speed I question if Carl had ever seen. This would have required Carl to punch with Joe to get his shots in, probably using some bodywork to slow Joe down, but that was easier said than done, particularly since Carl was better at mid and long range. Carl's hand speed limitations would be more exposed in this matchup against a lightning fast machine gun with much better foot movement. Adding to Carl's headaches is Calzaghe's chin was solid (maybe not Frochian, but a step below), and his cardio on par.
Joe takes this in a wide 8-4 decision, while Carl consoles himself with a Wembley Stadium/ppv paycheck and a supermodel wife.

I love Froch but stylistically this isn't a good match up for him.
I just think Calzaghe's speed of hand and foot is just too much for Froch.
I don't get this Carl walking Joe down either, Calzaghe had a good chin and although very elusive he didn't mind a dog fight either.

calzaghes poor defence is made up for by a strong chin so he might last distance, by froch might well stop him too.

In your dreams, Calzaghe schools Froch and Froch knows it.

Joe boxes carefully and uses his greater speed to outbox Carl decisively over the distance.

My bad. In that case, 10-5 Calzaghe.

Froch knocks Calzaghe out in round 14 but is probably losing the fight rounds to that point 8 rounds to 5, but the fight scoring would only be 1 point up for Joe because of Froch's 2 knockdowns against Slappy in the 1st & 7th rounds. 123-122 Calzaghe at the time of stoppage :deal:

It disappoints me that people still don't see........in the last fight of his career Joe Calzaghe's Kryptonite was exposed by Bernard Hopkins.

Tie one of Joes hands up early and pivot his body and suddenly he cant flurry...and since flurries made up most his arsenal....he is greatly diminished..... Hopkins did a number on him with this tactic the first six rounds....

Froch beat so many good fighters. His record exceeds Joe Calzaghes by a country mile.

Joe in my opinion lost by a point to Hopkins.....so the wins over aged but capable Jones and Eubanks are his best and the Kessler and Lacey wins.

Froch managed to find a way to beat slick boxers like Dirrel and a still good jermain taylor. He lost to Ward quite easily and that's going to count against him but its clear Froch had a major off night too. But Calzaghe is a different fighter than Ward.............its a very hard fight to pick but I now still lean on Calzaghe winning a close hard fight.

Oddly enough I see Calzaghe being able to carry out the strategy Froch couldn't and beat Ward much clearer........go figure

Calzaghes speed would be too much for Froch.

As much as I dislike Calzaghe.

But this is 15 rounds, neither man has ever been there and Froch is very good at grinding opponents down.

Could that favour Froch over 15?

Calzaghe wins an entertaining, competitive in spots but ultimately clear UD.
