They're different fighters. They both have fast hands, and are light on their feet. Bivol relies a lot on distance control as defence and has very sharp and precise straight punches. Calzaghe tends to throw punches in bunches and relies on angles and head movement for defence. Bivol is like a scalpel, Calzaghe is like a whirlwind. I like them both. Calzaghe ***** slaps the living hell out of the featherfisted Bivol and leaves him black and blue slumped over in a heap in the corner, looking even more like Sam Eagle from the Muppets than he already does.
Joe Calzaghe wins by decision. I like Bivol, but Calzaghe was more athletic and faster, and would outwork him.
Bivol is missing something. The skills are there, but he seems to lack a second gear. Seems to lack passion in general. Everything is too "by the book" with him. The greats all have that extra drive where purely winning isn't enough for them. The greats either wanna destroy you, or if they aren't capable of that, totally outclass you and look good doing it. Bivol is a guy who's content with JUST doing enough to win rounds, thereby winning the fight. Calzaghe would likely just outwill him, and outwork him.
