McClellan early TKO or Calzaghe UD, depending on whether or not Joe can survive the early storm, i lean towards the latter.

Basically what MM said. I lean towards Joe surviving the early onslaught, then making his speed and workrate the difference after the mid-rounds.

Calz at least had top-rate stamina. McClellan did not.

I think Calzaghe would outclass him, maybe even getting a tko late.

I am of the thought that Gerald was a bit overrated. Calzaghe by decision going away.

People always say "if he survives the early onslaught", but it is VERY HARD to survive that early onslaught.

I see that early barrage taking out MANY top SMW's.

Brutal power and terrific body/head combo, combined with size and an insane killer instinct = nightmare.

    Tough to call.

I want to say Joe on points, with his high energy. But he was always a sucker for a right hand, and Gerald had a 77” reach and huge power.

Joe had many great attributes as a fighter. But his biggest flaw was his defence.

While Gerald had power, there's no reason to choose him over Joe at 168 , Calzaghe was very smart and I don't think he does much for 5 or 6 rounds except avoid him. By that time the water starts getting deep for Gerald and Joe drowns him

Joe Calzaghe is a class above and I never saw him close to being KO’d so I have a hard time giving a shot to a Middleweight who I consider to be quite overrated.

Gerald fell in love with his power. But he was extremely dangerous.

Saying that we never saw Joe knocked out doesn’t mean that much here.

It doesn’t mean he couldn’t have been.

A shot Roy and Bernard dropped him.

They didn’t have the power or the skills to follow up.

Kabary Salem dropped him who was a European level fighter.

Byron Mitchell dropped him and Joe looked very vulnerable before he stopped him.

He wouldn’t have wanted to have gotten into a shootout with a guy who had huge power and a 77” reach.

Joe would had to have been very smart.

He couldn’t have afforded to have been drawn into a macho tear up.

Despite Joe being a great fighter, he was always easy to hit. You can look back on any of his fights and see him take lots of right hands. He was always susceptible to them.

I wouldn’t have favoured him, but he’d have had a chance.

Are you a lawyer? because you've made enough good points to get a conviction. I'm kinda thinking, who'd Joe beat in his prime that were all that?

As we all know, Joe was a great fighter. But when a fighter has been dropped all throughout his career, you’d have to give Gerald a chance.
