    "Lights Out".

Joe actually got dropped TWICE by two men who were older, slower, and had a combined age of 106.

James, on his VERY best day, would pick Joe off for a TKO. Joe's engine would be his downfall, and his IQ can't match James's, and James had a MUCH more varied punch selection, not to mention that Joe is NOT gonna put a single dent in Toney.

It'd end like the Barkley fight.

He got dropped by older men that come this time next month would have both fought 8 years later. I'd say it's loosely comparable to say Marciano getting dropped by Moore, although Marciano won much more emphatically.

At 168 I think Joe slaps him harmlessly for 12 rounds and gets out of the way of any Toney
hurtful shots and winds a MD. Anything over 168 and Joe is dead meat. Pardon the pun...
any thread about Toney and you shouldn't mention food.

Horrible match up for Toney. I don't know how people get so creative with this. Toney has slow feet and would have to turn and reset all night. He might score a flash knockdown but he'd lose a decision way more often than not.

Depends to an extent on the age of both at the time. I think Calzaghe is very underappreciated generally..but hard to pick anyone but Toney in this one.

Honestly, I reckon it would be similar to the Hopkins bout in that Toney would win the fight but Calzaghe would win the match.

That is, Toney would land the cleaner, crisper shots but Joe's workrate will see him land enough punches to win a decision. Yeah, I know they're generally powder puff punches, but they still count.

Footwork fight & Calzaghe turns him all night. Slapfest and the other guy is a step and a half behind all night. Like the Jones fight--footwork and angles and that's a huge Toney disadvantage. It is not going to be a punching power type fight--how many fighters did Calzaghe hit harder than anyway? But the guy knew how to win.

And Toney is nowhere near the output punching volume that Calzaghe does. He might throw 40% of the Calzaghe output if he's in shape. And if his feet are set to throw because James was a guy that does not like to throw until a guy is in his sweetspot. That's why he doesn't go off balance--because he won't throw. but this guy is not a Barkly type to stand and trade or stand and wait for the receipt.

Another guy that wins a decision going away against Toney at 175 is Maske.

Agreed, Calzaghe by decision for mine. Bad matchup for Toney.

Well, you know John, we are not supposed to ever factor in things like legs and turning a guy, are we? Every match is supposed to be who hits harder, right?
The interesting thing to do with fighters anyway is to subtract their punching power--what do you have? Give Toney Calzaghe's power and how does he do?
