Bleeding heck this is a tough one. Both highly skilled. James had the better punch I believe but both men had fairly decent chins so can't see a ko. Toney at his best was a boxing wizard but to a degree so was Joe. I'm leaning towards Joe. Joe was a excellent boxer and I'm thinking of nunn who gave Toney his hardest fight up to then and montell out boxed him so I'm going with Joe in a split decision win.

James puts his back to the ropes and eats Joe alive. Joe will take a couple of rounds on activity but james beats the breaks off of him. Those long wide swings are just too easy for a guy with James handspeed and skills to counter. Probably a career altering beating.

Toney is all kinds of wrong for Joe.

Did you watch the fights? Most observers thought Toney deserved the nod in both fights.

Toney by UD. Too skilled. Calzaghe would get countered worse than against Hopklins.

    Depends which Toney turned up.

Joe has the work rate to bully Toney and pin him against the ropes for large portions of the match.

But throwing that many shots leaves openings and if Toney is on point he'll take advantage.

I pick Toney to win, but if they would have fought in real life Calzaghe would have beaten him.

His preasure wasnt enough to stop Jones, compare to any other guy who beat aging Jones, Calzaghe victory was the least impressive. He barely beat 40+ years old Hopkins by close decision. Prime vs prime , Toney would beat Calzaghe. Who's Calzaghe best opponent who's in their prime when he fought them? Jeff Lacy? lol. His resume doesnt come close to Toney, Jones and Hopkins.

His 2 most wellknown victory was against aging Jones and Hopkins, both a decision win, how he's gonna stop Toney who could take best punches from any great fighter and a superb counter puncher.

Calzaghe got caught against Hopkins and Jones in first round, both past their prime especially Jones who has been stopped twice. Prime Toney would have counter and drop him more than once and gets unanimous decision.

One thing is for certain: no one gets knocked out in this one.

Yep I watched the fight s and also toney could struggle against men with boxing smart s. If u gave him movements and angle s he struggled. Joe was a Clever guy in the ring and he would have found a way to win I believe. But like I said it's a tough choice to pick against James

I have to favor Toney who's career was more thoroughly battle tested. But James also had the tendency to give some flat performances or didn't always show up in ideal shape. Think this would be a close fight.

Hard to pick, I see this one being kinda like Hopkins vs Calzaghe in a sense that it would be a close fight with swing rounds. I think it would be a much better fight then Hopkins vs Calzaghe. I think theres a good chance like in that fight Calzaghe tastes canvas but I also think Calzaghe activity would steal lots of rounds. I'm pretty well on the fence with this one I'd give Calzaghe the edge just based on his history of being able to win, I think he eqeeks this one out with his activity.

How about you give us your scorecards first? I might have a good laugh.

I don't understand how scorecards can be a sense of humour.

Also I don't understand why you quoted me, my question was posed to a different poster.
