There's no way you can compare two fighters from totally different generations. The ATG's will always be favored against the current fighters; it's just the way it is.
Hagler was on the downside when he `lost` to Leonard. Prime Hagler wlaks through Calzaghe punches behind a good jab( yes Marvin had a great jab). Backs him up and gives him a nice, slow beatdown. He was always in fantastic shape. So he could bring it the whole fight, 15 rds if he needed to. Hagler on cuts or late rd stoppage. Hagler could adapt, and he would make the necessary adjustments...
Even the 87 version of Hagler would have beaten Calzaghe. I know there are a lot of british fans here but Calzaghe is not Ray Leonard.
No you are right. Calzaghe is not Ray Leonard. He isnt a blown up welterweight who's only win north of 160 was Donny ****ing Lalonde.
I think Calzaghe gives Hagler a lot pf problems due to his workrate and awkward style. No way is Calzaghe going to KO Hagler, and I don't think Hagler would be able to catch Calzaghe flush often enough to KO him, although it is an outside possibility. The fight would more than likely end in a split decision, Calzaghe having the better punch output, Hagler landing the cleaner shots. Depends on the judges at ringside really.
