Hagler was the better fighter, but I don't see why it's such a guarantee that the guy can basically go up two divisions (again, Joe is likely a LHW for most of his career under same day weigh-ins) and dominate and blow out Joe.

Hagler never cared to prove himself above 160, and despite his stocky frame and long arms, was considered to be a bit on the small side at 160. He'd make weight pretty easy.

At 168 Calzaghe would win going away IMO and pretty clearly.

Calzaghe would lacy Hagler and I think its pretty clear if you watch their fighting styles.

Hagler speaking to the BBC after Calzaghe beat Jones :

American middleweight legend Marvin Hagler told 5 Live Calzaghe had one more fight left in him.

"He has beaten legends in his time and now I believe there is only one more thing he has to do and that is to get (former light-heavyweight world champion) Antonio Tarver," said Hagler.

"Then he can shut up all the critics and he will go down as one of the best fighters of all time.

I guess your right, I'm convinced. He Lacy'd Lacy, so sure he could Lacy Marvin Hagler.

He never even faced an opponent of Hagler's calibre, how do you figure he would beat him, let alone dominate him?

he beat who had 2, jones didnn't want 2 fight any1 decent, and hopkins pulled out of a fight years b4 they got it on and thats a fact!, i think hagler is awsome and a true warrior, but joe would find a way 2 win, joe could always raise his game and find another level, by the way ure avatar is class!

joe would win because he wouldn't fight hagler until he was in his 40s. if joe comes out of retirement maybe he'll try to make this fight.

I dont see anyway this fight could go over 6 rounds. Hagler was from a different breed of fighter, Joe Shmo would want no part of it.

Thanks for the compliment. But saying Jones didn't want to fight anyone decent in defense of Joe Calzaghe is, well, weird.

I honestly think Joe was a terrific fighter who went largely untested and unproven due to a lack of competition.

Don't forget these quotes on Joe Calzaghe by, well.......Joe Calzaghe.

"I could probably give Jones a tough fight, probably the best fight he's ever had',said Calzaghe,'But I know my capabilities and unless I got paid the crown jewels,I wouldn't want to risk it." from www.THISISLONDON.co.uk/SPORT/ARTICLE-5499540-DETAILS/I+AM+THE+BEST,+SAYS+HONEST+JOE+/ARTICLE.DO.

Or the DAILY MIRROR,June 1,1999:"I'm not chasing after Roy Jones.Be honest,Roy is a good fighter and I don't want tough fights.I just want big money."

This was all before he said in his book that Jones was washed up, and then, you know, fought him...... 3 years later.

Sure. That is more than fair. Don't mean to bash the guy. As I said, a terrific fighter.

If you aren't an alt acct, and are indeed new to esb, you'll see alot of exchanges on Joe C. Much of the responses on both sides are based on a disagreement of his level of opposition. Most would agree the guy could flat out fight.(At least I hope they would.)
