Calzaghe on a good night could outpoint Hagler.

The fight would be at Super middleweight or light heavyweight.

Calzaghe never fought at middleweight as a pro, and he certainly wouldn't be draining himself to make 160 to face Hagler in a million years.

    Calzaghe by easy wide UD.
Hagler was a great fighter but a smallish MW. Remember alot of Haglers big name wins were also against smaller fighters.
Hagler had a great chin, but would be totally beaten at the end.
Calzaghes resume is filled with many big world class SMWs that alot of ignorant people dont know, but pass comment

We've had this thread before. I'm in the minority, but I think Calzaghe is a bad style matchup for Hagler, and I think he would have taken a close decision. I know I'm in the minority here though. Too lazy to get into exact details, but between size, style, strengths and weaknesses, I think Cal takes it. Don't forget, Hagler would have been a junior middleweight in the current era of same day weigh-ins.

At 160 Hagler wins by comfortable UD.

At 168-175 Calzaghe wins by wide UD.

Well as much as I disagree with you on the Calzaghe Hopkins fight, I actually agree with you on this one. But it definetly wouldn't be easy, Hagler was a great fighter and could fight both southpaw and orthodox. He had a great jab too but Calzaghe's rhythem, workrate and hand speed would pull out the decision. Calzaghe is also tough too, and he can take a punch. But either way it would be tough fight for Calzaghe, he wouldn't have no cake walk.

Comparing Calzaghe to Hagler is like comparing Jose Luis Castillo to Roberto Duran, ie a good fighter from the 2000s to one of the greatest fighting machines of all-time.

Dumb thread. Hagler would jab Joe C into the next century, and completely outbox, outfight and outclass him 10 times out of 10.

Hagler would have eventually chopped him down (especially a 15 r fight)after having to give up some of the early rounds.

I mean maybe Calzaghe pulls a leonard and moves around the ring toying with him and taunting him and frustrating him

but if he stands still and tries to come at him with everything he's got Hagler beats him up

I think it would be an entertaining fight

the thing is if you dont hurt Hagler he is not going to respect you

Calzaghe is not known for his power

though if you look at Lacy and Jones faces after the bouts he must have something on his punches

Overall 80-20 in favor of Hagler

Cal outweighed Hagler by 18-20 lbs come fight night.

He is not a slow plodder.

His hand/footspeed are comparable to guys at welterweight in the body of a light heavyweight.

He has technical skills, footwork and super high workrate.

He can fight in any range. He judges distance very well.

    He has unbelievable stamina.

His feints are superb and can mentally strain his opponents.

He has very fast recuperative ability. When he stops being a goofball, even punches that hit him right in the chin have no effect on him.

There is no freaking way Hagler can win a fight against Calzaghe if they fought at their fighting weights.

I agree with a lot of the above, but you do have to take into account who he displayed those traits against and who he didn't. No one JC ever fought was even remotely a prime Hagler. Just saying.

First of all, no one is stopping Calzaghe, including Hagler

Calzaghe would have to be favourite but rose tinted specs will see Hagler by tko/ko somehow dominate the poll.
