That being said Calzaghe fought a 43 year old man in Hopkins and the corpse of Roy Jones Jr. RJJ that fought Toney would **** Calzaghe up and the Hopkins from late 90's early 2000's wouldn't lose to him.

If Calzaghe's so good why didn't he stick around and fight guys like Ward, Froch, Pascal, Dawson, Bute and even rematch a 45 year old Hopkins? Here Hopkins is fighting a guy 17 years younger than him and the best at 175:good

Hagler. Aside from size and speed what does Calzaghe have over him? Jab? **** no. Technical skills? **** no. Defense? **** no. Durability? **** no. Footwork? **** no. A puncher as accurate as Hagler would be finding Calzaghe more often than the other way around. And he would accumulate more damage in the in-fighting/exchanges with his heavier hands and better technique. People underestimate Hagler's boxing skills and versatility - MUCH, MUCH, MUCH better than Mikkel Kessler or Robin Reid. And better/more effective than a 43 year old B-Hop.

    Hagler takes it.

    Well, ****.

With over 6,000 posts, you're hardly a needle in a haystack on these boards. And everytime I visit a Calzaghe thread, sure enough there you are going on and on ranting and raving about him.

I don't know if a lot of people get the Hagler near the end who looked shopworn and slower in their heads when they think of this fight, but the dude was as sharp as a razor early in his title reign. I'm not qualified to talk about the sport as a whole as I don't know NEARLY as much as a lot of guys on here do, but MMH is one of the very best I've watched on video. Calzaghe was very good, just not at all at that level.

Pretty much. Slightly amused by the people making out that Calzaghe was some ripped to shreds bull of a light heavy. He always looked soft in fights to me. He would get to brave and trade with Hagler, get worn down and stopped.

Agreed. The Hagler of the early 80s (thinking Antuofermo rematch, Sibson, Scypion, etc etc) was one of the greatest fighting machines in history. Several levels above the likes of Calzaghe.

Nah.It would go the distance.Marv's chin was granite and Calzaghe had a very good chin.He would have beaten overrated Minter in a lopsided decision or late tko.To think that Minter was the betting favorite in England before he fought Hagler is quite laughable.

Changing an opinion dosent damage credibility, it shows honesty, and you are telling lies if you think Hagler even on his best day could beat Calzaghe on his worst.
Jones and Hopkins were offered good money to face Calzaghe and fought for less, and Jones decline could have been due to PEDs use

    Calzaghe easy UD
