I'm not going to look at a single post on this thread and guess Bailey says Hagler couldn't beat Calzaghe under any circumstance.

Yes the truth must be hard for you to live with, and you are no doubt still suffering about Calzaghe beating Hopkins, but trust me no MW who made his name beating lighter fighters is going to beat the best SMW ever.
Im a fan of Hagler and used to have a Hagler collection. I dont discredit Hagler at all, but there is no way he could beat Calzaghe at SMW or LHW.

    Easy fight for Calzaghe

Joe struggled with a 42-year old Hopkins. Joe doesn't have a single win on his resume that compares to anything remotely close to a fighter like Hagler.

A prime Hagler destroys him, sorry.

No monkeys here. Just the musician playing a tune you cant dance to. Keep throwing your pennies and watching the ******, because thats the closest you'll get to the band.

Hagler has no one on his resume that shows he could beat Calzaghe, but Calzaghe has a resume filled with bigger fighters than Hagler.

Hagler would last the distance but be very beaten after Calzaghes wins a wide UD

You're a fan of Hagler's and claim that you used to have a collection of Hagler fights, but yesterday you claimed that Jermaine Taylor would have beaten Hagler, even though afterwards you took back that extremely stupid statement?:lol:Are you absolutely ****ing kidding everyone on these boards or just lying to yourself?:lol:You had the temerity to use the Hagler-Leonard fight as a reason that Calzaghe would beat Hagler, even though everyone that had ever seen Hagler fight throughout his career would have known that Hagler's once impressive skills were gone when he fought Leonard.I used to think you were an intelligent poster, but it's obvious that your only agenda is to raise Lyin' Joe's standings because your logic and statements are absolute shite.Let me educate you. Those of us that know that JC was a terrific fighter aren't going to be swayed by the naysayers. But those that hate Calzaghe aren't going to be swayed by your lack of logic and nonsense either.Go ahead and claim that Jones and Hopkins were harder punchers that Hagler once more(even though there is no evidence of your silly statement whatsoever,as I need a good laugh,so do it again).Your silly statements are really getting pathetic, but entertaining nevertheless.Oh ****,I forget. You're the dude that wrote that Calzaghe would have beaten John Conteh and Michael Spinks, too:lol:.Cheers:good

I have no idea why you're bringing Jones and Hopkins into this debate except the fact that you're very insecure about your lying hero. This is a debate about Hagler-Calzaghe,not Calzaghe whomever. And Calzaghe DID say he would never fight Jones as Jones was shot,so whatever you're on about, move on please as your credibility is now officially in the shitter. And yes, changing your opinion(especially in the same DAY)in mid debate DESTROYS your credibility and does not represent honesty. It,in fact,in represents dishonesty.What?-did you momentarily have a vision that WOW maybe Hagler would have beaten Taylor? And yet you also claimed that Lacy would have given Hagler hell:lol::lol::lol:.Do you realize that from now on you're always going to be the fellow that claims that Jermaine Taylor would have beaten Marvin Hagler, but changed his mind when everyone was laughing out loud? From now on.However you may have been correct.Marv's about 56 now so Jermaine might have a chance:lol:.:goodAnd no,I'm not telling lies that Hagler would have beaten JC.Hagler had every advantage over JC except for workrate, height and weight.Even though JC had very underrated footwork,if you had seen Hagler A COUPLE OF YEARS BEFORE THE LEONARD FIGHT,you would have known he had terrific movement.

Hagler was a small Middleweight, but he wasnt the kind of fighter that solely relied on physical fighting. He was a skilled brawler, and his skills were effective with Movers like SRL, brawlers like Mugabi, tall ones like Hearns, Minter was tough British Middleweight.

Took solid punches from Mugabi and Hearns who were big hitters.

What possibly can Jeff Lacy do to Hagler to make it a "good hard fight."

They were roughly the same height.

Hagler would have beat the **** out of Lacy just like Calzaghe did, maybe worse.

Calzaghe vs Hagler would have been a tough fight. Calzaghe would have brawled, and Hagler is one of the most skilled brawlers I have ever seen.

    IMO Hagler late TKO Calzaghe.

Calzaghe-Hagler would not have been a close fight at all IMO.

Have you seen the early 80s Hagler fight?

If that Hagler wanted to outbox Calzaghe, he'd outbox him with ease.

Have you seen the mid 80s Hagler brawl?

If that Hagler wanted to brawl with Calzaghe, he'd break him down with ease.

As I've already said, this is like setting JL Castillo (a top 2000s fighter) against Roberto Duran (an elite ATG), or Kostya Tszyu (a top 2000s fighter) against Pernell Whitaker (an elite ATG), or Winky Wright (a top 2000s fighter) against Ray Leonard (an elite ATG).

The gulf in skill and quality is massive. Guys like Castillo, Tszyu, Winky and Calzaghe were top fighters in our relatively weak era, but do not let that fool you into thinking they could compete with history's elite.

    Hagler

    Calzaghe

To be honest I have seen far more Calzaghe fights than Hagler, (from UK and born in the 80's) but that is still enough for me to agree that Hagler would have beaten Calzaghe. Hagler is levels above Calzaghe in terms of boxing skill. And the guy had a solid mentality.

The only advantage Calzaghe has is the weight, (height and reach doesnt come into play), thats why I think Calzaghe may last til the late rounds with Hagler.

Other than that I fully agree, although I do think Winky Wright vs Hagler could have been interesting match style wise.

   .
Still I clearly pick Calzaghe to beat Hagler by easy UD.
Remember nobody could beat Calzaghe, nobody could knock him out, if Calzaghe got knocked down he got up and won and was the aggresser and never badly hurt.
Hagler had a great chin and was a very good fighter, but alot of bigger fighters look dominant against smaller fighters coming up in weight, this would be Haglers problem.

    Calzaghe UD

Calzaghe may be unbeaten but that doesnt mean he is unbeatable.

Robin Reid, 43 year old Hopkins, Kabery Salem, Shot Jones Jr, Mikkel Kessler, Sakio Bika, (Even) Byron Mitchell, Old Eubank are levels below Marvin Hagler yet still caused Calzaghe problems.

Also Calzaghe could have hanged around a little longer and be quite possibly beaten by Hopkins II, Froch, Dawson, Dirrell, Ward.... who would have been tough for a 37 Year old Calzaghe.

Marvin Hagler had an Iron Jaw, and thats why I understand you choose Calzaghe to win by UD, but his Iron jaw would have made him eat shots and lay some on Calzaghe. Calzaghe wouldnt be able to keep Hagler off him unlessed he brawled back. And if that did happen I see Calzaghe being KO'ed.
