Joe Calzaghe vs Nigel Benn - who would have won?

I take it the Calzaghe/Lacy fight was when you started watching boxing.

 

Calzaghe by wide UD Eubank outboxed Benn you know Calzaghe would easily do the same, Benn has a punchers chance no more Joe on a total different level.

 

Benn would probably have done lacy in 2 rounds his punch power was brutal way above his weight class, not saying he would of beat calzaghe, prime for prime great fight, a passed it eubank gave calzaghe his hardest fight so I dare say a prime benn would of giving him hell defiantely a 12 round war.

 

Don't think joe had the power to stop benn and over 12 rounds benn would of connected that right bomb several times, would of been a great fight. Didn't actually think joe's chin was all that to be honest

 

Probably not the first time you have been wrong though is it.
Benn had limited boxing ability, solid chin and big punch. Not all that far removed from Lacy.

 

I dont doubt Calzaghe would have won, but Benn would have given his all and not stopped trying.
I think Calzaghe would win a very wide UD. I think he would outbox Benn and out fight him when when he has to, to a point Calzaghe would be the bully.
Still I rate Benn highly and think he would beat any active SMW today, but Calzaghe would in my opinion beat Benn

Saying that, I still think Joe would have won. But what you said is ridiculous, Benn was much better than Lacy.

It would have been a hell of a fight. I'd favour Calzaghe to win a close decision because he was a bit quicker and a better boxer.

 

Calzaghe was only young when he outclassed Eubank. Would have beat Benn easily, was better in ever department. Benn admits Froch and Calzaghe would have both beat him

 

I agree, Calzaghe was way better than Benn, but Benn way better than Lacy was. Rated Benn was world class, its just that Joe was great
