Thats where Kovalev is based, so I would expect him to gain a better LHW resume than Calzaghe who only had 2 fights at the weight and made a career at SMW, but arguably Kovalevs biggest win is a faded Calzaghe victim and Calzaghe has the far greater pedigree

Calzaghe was a very good fighter, but he was/is grossly overrated because he's from the UK.

Change his name to Josef Calazkoff and he's never mentioned with the greats.

Alot of it, can be where someone is based. I expect if Calzaghe was a New York based Italian American, certain fights would have been looked at as bigger fights, like the Brewer, Mitchell, Sheika fights.
At that time, most of the SMW fights were in Europe and fighters like Sheika, Mitchell and Brewer even as champs had to travel

mhua sheika doesn't become anything other than a weak defence, no matter where you fight him. SHeik doesn't suddenly man up and develop world class skills when fighting in America, he never did.only in cal**** land.

Doesnt sound good for G Johnson who Sheika beat or Ouellet who beat a future SMW world champ

Calzaghe never lost and would have beaten Kovalev, no trouble.
