If he could have he would have. While he was beating Bernard by a wide Margin, if Bernard was so feather fisted for Sergei to just walk in, he would have. If Sergei had the footwork to cut the ring off a little better he would have. Bernard was hurt in the 12th, but wasn't even slurred or anything during the post fight, he was totally clear and thoughtful in his post fight comments in the ring. If he had of stepped on the gas earlier, he may have gotten caught with something. It's no shame to not be able to stop Bernard, even if he is 84 years old. lol. Boxing fans always say if he had of put his foot on the gas. He would have certainly stopped him. There is no certainty when you fight outside of your gameplan. He very well could have gotten caught with something himself. Just saying.

 

There are always possibilities. Its boxing and anything can happen, but sometime people imagine fights to go a certain way

There are a few too many votes for a Kovalev win by KO considering that Joe never lost a fight and was never close to being KO'd. Kovalev looks very good at the moment but his only top opponent was Hopkins (who lasted 12 rounds).

But I don't agree.

Kov was extremely disciplined and he stuck to a great game plan.

Bernard didn't have the power to really hurt him and gain his respect.

I think that Kov showcased his skills, and tried to prove a point that he can also box as well as he can fight.

I think if he'd have really gone for it, the stoppage would have occurred.

Mitchell arguably would have koed joe, but joe got a free pass for the fight to get stopped when Mitchell slipped and joes ref ruled it a tko (LOL at welsh cheating there).

Joe cal's level is just below that of postprime Mitchell, wh got destroyed by NABF champ antwun echols immediately previous.

if Mitchell had done a joe cal by fighting weaklings he 'd be undefeated too.
