are you being serious? you really believe sergio mora has an equal resume to joe calzaghe, seriously? has sergio mora been world champion for over 10 years? has sergio mora been linear champion in two weight divisions? has serio mora beaten over ten former world champions? man, you're ****ing dumb. i told you to post me advantages, and you give me this? ridiculous.
Ok, I exaggerated about the resume. I dont' think he has any clear "advantages" except maybe handspeed. I just think Mora's speed, length and height could pose some problems for Joe thats all. Like I said, I havent' seen much of Joe. I saw Hopkins schooling him early in their fight, until it looked like Hopkins legs gave out and tehn Joe outworked, but never hurt him. Also Jones and Hopkins both dropped him early on, and they were both on social security by the time he fought them. I also looked at Joe's resume and didn't see too many people who I think were THAT MUCH better then Mora. So why not fight Mora, he fought Manfredo and Bika :deal atsch whats with the hostility????
sorry about the hostility, but i really did find your comment about their resumes being near equal rather stupid. anyway, bernard hopkins is not your normal 40+ fighter, the guy will still put the young ones down a peg or two, he's just a true great fighter who's still actually an elite fighter who would in my opinion and most likely many others opinion beat sergio mora rather easily. with roy jones, roy caught calzaghe clean, but apart from that, it was all joe calzaghe. you should watch joe when he was younger, that's when he was at his peak. joe calzaghe wasn't actually at his peak when he fought hopkins or jones, but that's when the big american fights happened for him. about your question of him fighting mora.. well joe would of fought him, but what i'm saying is the chances are it wouldn't of been close. i mean look, you're actually having trouble giving any good advantages for sergio mora, while i can give neraly all of them for joe calzaghe, and that speaks volumes.
He fought Manfredo as part of a deal to get a shot at Jermain Taylor. Calzaghe had an advantage over Mora in just about every department, including natural weight. Mora was basically a 154lb guy who also fought at 160. Calzaghe was killing himself to make 168--he weighed like 190 in between bouts. Calzaghe was bigger, stronger, faster, more powerful, and more experienced. He also was just a way better fighter all around. The only way a fight with Mora would have happened is if Mora became a mandatory challenger or if Calzaghe got a deal to fight someone else and used him as a tune-up. Also, Mora's tough decision wins over Manfredo are a far cry from suggesting that he could give problems to a guy who blew Manfredo out in 4 rounds. Calzaghe fought a ton of guys as good or better than Mora, and another poster already listed a bunch of them. If you want to see why Mora shouldn't have been allowed anywhere near Calzaghe, watch Calzaghe vs. Lacy and Calzaghe vs. Kessler. Calzaghe's wins vs. Jones and Hopkins are in no way representative of his abilities at 168 and in his prime--hell, he wasn't even in his prime when he fought the guys I mentioned.
Dawg admits that he hasn't seen much of Joe, so if he is "Being real" I guess we can give him the benefit of the doubt. But I am surprised that such an experienced and knowledgeable poster would not have "Done his homework" regarding JC before posting!!. My guess (And it is only that) is that Dawg is having some fun here!! He's been an ESB member for years, i'm sure he is fully aware of Joe Calzaghe, his title reign, resume, and the world class opponents that he beat.
i'm surprised a so called knowledgeable poster doesn't know much about a boxer that was champion for over ten years, that alone is quite shocking in my opinion. anyway, a word of advice for everyone is research a boxer before discussing that boxer, otherwise the chances are you'll end up looking like a dumbass, especially on a boxing board.
