Calzaghe is nowhere near as great as SRL, but this is like comparing Calzaghe to Spinks at LHW. Calzaghe was an exceptional 168lber whose borderline great with his best win being over Kessler, a close win over Hopkins which I think should of been a draw, a past his prime Eubanks, and a shot RJ. Calzaghe a borderline great 168lber, SRL a definitive, great 147lber.
Candy Calzaghe by UD with a 3-4 round margin. He's just naturally much larger & did a lot more than Ray at 168. SRL is still by far the better boxer with the better resume.
No question p4p Leonard is better(as much as I hate to admit it,because I ****ing HATE Leonard ),but at 168,JC by decision.
Oh dear atsch Slappy still being wildly over-rated for keeping his '0' despite never beating anyone of any consequence at their prime apart from Kessler and Lacy, who've since both been proven to be average at best. I'd wager big time on the Hearns that Leonard fought would kick the **** out of Slappy, so would Hagler - and Leonard beat them both. Stupid poll anyway, Joe only fought great fighters once they hit 40, and Leonard was long retired by that time.
I think so but I wouldn't dismiss Joe's workrate either ...But he would be up against a legend with similar hand speed so you never know ..
atschDude, here are facts.By the time Hagler stopped fighting,he had about 67 fights.Up until then, how many did Leonard have-30 or so fewer?Hagler obviously started to noticably slip a few years before the Leonard fight against Juan Roldan.Don't believe me?Watch the fight and see for yourself.Even Larry Merchant commented on the slippage.A couple of years later against Mugabi,Hagler looked like his feet were in concrete, his handspeed had noticably slowed and his reflexes were ****.Don't believe me?Watch the fight and see for yourself. That's all you have to do.That's it.And why do you think Leonard chose to fight Hagler when he did after publicly discussing a possible fight with Hagler for at least 6 six years previous? You tell me.Leonard has admitted in public that he chose to fight Hagler when he did due to Marv's performance in the Mugabi fight. Those are the facts, dude. If you don't want to pay attention to the facts, that's your problem. But those are the facts.
