    Calzaghe...
The style, unorthodoxy, speed,Southpaw stance, pressure, stamina and durability of joe is too much for robinson at 168....Maybe a stoppage even....If robbie was that good at even 168 (and remember todays 168 is like 175 yesteryear with the day before weigh ins.) how come he never rematched maxim or fought for another lt heavy strap? Calzaghe is a very big 168,should be a 175er...

    It works like this.

I do not hand out fantasy wins over Sugar Ray Robinson like sweeties. For an active fighter to get picked over him he is going to have to prove a hell of a lot in the ring.

As things stand Calzaghe is going into the bigest fight of his career which will have a major impact in terms of deciding where he ultimately ranks in the pantheon of historic fighters.

How he fares in that fight will do a lot to decide where he stands relative to Robinson or even La Motta.

maxim was a great fighter he had the jab the abilty to take a punch but...he was way to sluggish.

calzaghe is a athlete his stamina is amazingf i have seen him throw almost a 100 punches againt mark delaney and then come the 2nd round to fire off 70 punches throughout the fight.

maxim through alot of punches but didnt bounce didnt flow he just seemed to move to him jab and hope he hit.
calzaghe even though he accomplished less than robinson (by a very long margine) hasa style i feel he can beat robinson

    :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl

Calzaghe easily defeats Robinson at 168. Robinson's not even at his best or at his optimum weight here.

Calzaghe would have equally easily won every single round against a guy like Maxim, a peak Calzaghe also had no hand problems.

Think on this one, everyone underrates Calzaghe on here.

SRR presents nothing needed to beat Calzaghe in terms of signature weapons either and don't act like I know nothing about SRR.

But he'd have fought no fighter who even remotely resembles Calzaghe's style.

Given that SRR is arguably the best MW ever (he's my pick) and Calzaghe is one of the best ever at a very young division only 8 pounds above, it's difficult to see what the joke is Amsterdam.

Whe you put a word like "easily" into that sentance and absolutley fail to provide any reasoning, it's pretty easy to dismiss the pick.

Special fighters often acheive a great deal above optimum weight. But you know that.
