Joe Calzaghe vs. The Yanks

    I thought we needed another thread on Joe Calzaghe

    I want to discuss the various merits of potential opponents of the Yank variety. Once Joe has disposed of candidate #1, Mary Popkins, obviously. It's a bit of a mismatch really, one win over Howard Eastman doesn't make you great in my books

    I must say I look down on these names as a king would a peasant. I don't believe they are in the Pride of Wales league, but please give them a second thought before all you haters write them off completely

    Roy Jones Junior - Top man, top boxer. Provided he comes through a 'test' against perennial Big Mac eating Puerto Rican, Felix Trinidad, it could pave the way for a mega blockbuster showdown between two of the greatest fighters of all time

    Kyle Pavlik - I must confess I'd never heard of this guy until last week. He's fought way too many bums over in America for my liking. I fear he's been picking up bad habits against said bums, as he nearly got knocked out by one recently. I'd like for the man they call "The Ghost" to prove himself amongst top competition, such as Arthur Abraham

    Lucian Bute - Looks a very good fighter. I've had a horrible time trying to get coverage of his fights on UK cable. Based on his impressive win over p4p rated Calzaghe leftover Bika, he must be a serious consideraton

    Mad Chad Dawson - Never heard of him :oops: Hopefully some of the Yanks can fill me in. Would he lose by KO or points?

    The more of these threads I see the more I want to see Calzaghe lose. I hope Hopkins humiliates him. I'm prepared to take the backlash from the yanks just to shut pricks like this up. I'm convinced MasterCalzaghe & TFFP are the same person.

    Jermain Taylor is a bum now?? uhhhhh not sure about that one. He lost one fight to an extremely talented boxer, he will still be fighting top guys after his second KO loss to Pavlik. You seem extremely biased against american fighters also. I want Joe C to beat hopkins and he probably will, but saying it is going to be a massacre is not smart. B hop is too tricky and smart to get steamrolled.

    Dawson would lose by tko, and early. He's the single most overated fighter on the planet currently. He's got a glass chin, and hes beaten no one. Just another american hyped fighter.

    The only person who comes close to being as overhyped is Kelly Pavlik.

    Well I beleive Calzaghe to be the best fighter in or around the division, Yank or not. I have thought this for some time now.

    I think he beats all Pavlik, Taylor, Dawson, Hopkins aswel as Bute, Mundine, Abraham, Erdei, Woods, Green..he is better than all of them.

    First off, Bute is not a yank.

    We still need to see what Roy has left, but Hopkins/Dawson are Calzaghes' 2 biggest threats at this point.

    I had a feeling Dawson was the next Lacy

    I also felt Pavlik was the next, well...Lacy

    What can these fighters bring, that one of America's best fighters Jeff Lacy couldn't?

    That's for the Yanks out there
