This would have been a great match-up at either SMW or LHW.
I see Jirov taking control of this bout in rounds 3-4 once he establishes that his 100 well executed punches are miles more effective than Joe's 100 slaps per rd.
I have Jirov wearing Calzaghe down by round 10 with a TKO stoppage in round 11. I expect the punch stat to be heavily in Jirov's favor as he walks through Calzaghe's slaps and rains 10s of punches onto Slappy's thick skull.

    What say you?

This would be the battle to establish who is the best "flurrier" in the SMW/LHW division.
Both fighters are known for throwing 100s of punches per round, overwhelming their opponents by sheer volume.
Calzaghe likes to slap to the head while Jirov is a consummate body technician.
Can Calzaghe cut Jirov up and win by TKO stoppage or SD decision, OR will Jirov's rallies overpower Calzaghe and wear him down to stoppage?

Prime Sugar Joe's record of excellence, lethal and precise power punching would Lacy Jirov's career. Sugar Joe KO2. That's me being quite generous on Jirovs survival chances.

I'll admit, at first I sh*t my pants, but then I collected myself (after I cleaned myself), and then I had a good laugh. Well done Sir!

Sugar Joe was the most slick fighter at his weight of all time, look how many overrated Afro-American champions he put to the sword.

Exactly how many African Americans did Joe face and defeat in prime? :huh

I'd be interested in hearing you thoughts on teh thread's actual topic also, when time allows. :yep

Quite a few, not RJJ though. He also put the great Afro-Englishmen Eubank to the sword as well.

I think that Jirov would have been too weight drained at 175. At 190 or 200 he would have been too big for Calzaghe but I think at 175 or below Calzaghe would have picked him apart with his speed and skills.

LOL WTF! Jirov never fought below about 185 and spent all of his career at cruiser. He's WAY too big for JC. He wore guys his own size down, not to mention guys at are 20 lbs lighter.

If you want to pick some fight where you can flame Calzaghe, at least pick someone his own size so it means something.

Lets start with American legends, Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Jr, and unbeaten destroyer of worlds, Jeff Lacy.

Hopkins and Jones were clearly prime as they both went on to capture solid victories post Sugar Joe. They were good enough to not be have their souls completely take by Sugar Joe. Lacy wasn't so lucky. His career went downhill immediately after his public execution at the hands of Sugar Joe.

Delusional American fans, (who only love domestic fighters because they are American and immediately deflate any Anglo victory after an American defeat by claiming they were hypjobs to begin with), like to claim he was a hypejob and the fact that he accomplished absolutely nothing afterwards is proof of that. Total fallacy, fueled by domestic propaganda and patriotism. His career was ended the moment he stepped in the ring with the legend. Sugar Joe. Had he not done so, Jeff Lacy would likely be p4p #1 right now.
