jones never avoided tarver. they were supposed to fight in 2000 but tarver lost to eric harding so jones fought harding instead. then jones came back down from heavy to fight tarver. not sure how that's ducking. jirov was a good fighter but he is not in jones' league.
I figured from the first statement it was someone who never saw Toney fight...It was the second statement that led me to believe said 'someone' is a raving moron, which is rare... In retrospect, I should have listed Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Tyson and Klitschko as his biggest wins...
I have no need to review Toney's resume to know how great a boxer he is. What I was asking is who is this Silencer character, and why I should give a fuk about his opinions?
I understand you have absolutely no idea who these fighters are but, thanks for clarifying...Impressive work...
The same turds who on this thread will say Calzaghe was big enough to beat Jirov are the same turds who say Marvin Hagler and Carlos Monzon are too small to compete with Calzaghe. They are turds with no brains and no integrity.
Jirov had too much pop for a fighter as crude and unschooled as Calzaghe. Jirov would have blasted through him.
I can't say I blame Jones for ignoring Jirov. Ruiz was a bigger fish, who had a title, and was much easier to reel in. Toney selected Jirov as his introduction into the higher weight class for the same reason Jones selected Ruiz. Each knew that their opponents were beatable in spite of all of the odd makers having both Jones and Toney as underdogs. As I recall, the so-called "experts" all said that Jones and Toney would lose because each of their opponents, Ruiz and Jirov were too big, too strong, and carried HW punching power. Both Toney and Jones proved the so-called experts wrong...but Calzaghe didn't. :yep I'm not sure, but how many matches has Calzaghe been in where he was the stated underdog? I'm asking because obviously if you are taking a fight where you are the underdog, you obviously are not afraid of taking RISKS.
i haven't kept up with this thread for a while . . . . . . . . has anybody managed to list jirovs 5 best victories yet?
