Joe Calzaghe will probably fight after Roy Jones

The truth is Joe Calzaghe felt old fighting Bernard Hopkins and thats because Bernard Hopkins will make ANYONE feel old and off their mark. If Calzaghe has a decent showing and feels great and a little closer to his past prime against Roy Jones I wouldn't be surprised if he did not retire and chose to fight 1 more mega fight with Pavlik.

His decision to want to retire after 1 more fight IMO is due to the tough time he had with Bernard Hopkins who without a doubt made him look/feel more past prime than he may really be. Calzaghe IS past prime, but against a favorable stylistic match up like Pavlik he might not feel "old" and could pull off another impressive win against a young prime fighter. But what B-Hop did to Calzaghe, was made him feel off his mark and made him think it was time for him to retire. If this really is the case then Joe really shouldn't get too hung up on this, Hopkins makes anyone look like **** no matter who you are on this planet. Hell even this version of Roy Jones could possibly make things tricky for Calzaghe, But if Joe can win and feel good about his win then I think he takes on Pavlik and retires win or lose.

I hope you are right. Good analysis thats pretty much the way i view calzaghe too. I have watchted the kessler fight about 10 times and the lacy fight. The hopkins fight was horrible and the way hopkins treated calzaghe afterwards, was just sick. Hopkins needs to go away fast. Jones is tricky for calzaghe but hes not dirty and presents a good target which i think is perfect showcase for calzaghes skills. These old dogs are not making calzaghe look good though.

Good post jecx, I think some fans make too much of Bernard making Joe in those early rounds look amatuerish', because that's just what Bernard does to all the fighters he faced for the most part.

You can take this to the bank: Calzaghe will never fight Pavlik!!! I have said it over and over again but everyone wants to keep dreaming. The words courageous, warrior, willing to fight anyone are not words ever associated with Calzaghe. He would have to become a different person to take a fight with Pavlik. Not gonna happen. Forget about it. If you are a fan of Joe, wish him luck in his retirement after RJJ. If you are a fan of Pavlik, you can look forward to great fights with Abraham and hopefully Kessler.

The problem with your theory is that Joe said he would only fight once more after BHop BEFORE the Hopkins fight. He said after Hopkins he would fight once more, and he wanted the winner of Pavlik/Tayor II.
You can get that right from the horses mouth if you're willing to spend a few minutes on the truth. Pay close attention to what Joe says from around the 6:50 mark on.

calzaghe said that he was going to take one fight after hopkins and then retire, so your theory makes no sence.

and hopkins never made calzaghe feel old, he made him look ****, and he took him apart, he made him look amateurish.

what calzaghe wants to do is create a legacy by beating **** fighters for 10 years and in doing so ducking every real fight during that time, and then when the people who have been controling boxing have got old, then he decides to fight them.

roy jones is going to give calzaghe a lesson on 'on how to get knocked the **** out'.

Surely you're not trying to claim that the great Peter Manfredo brings more to the ring than Pavlk.
