Moorer at 175 is well overrated...Its not hard to look impressive against the fighters he was in against. People have a jizz over his impressive numbers there without really looking at who he fought and watching the fights he was in.

Thats not to say Joe destroys him though...that just wouldnt happen. JC would be hardpressed winning let alone winning decisively.

he would do to moorer what he did to chris byrd in the amateurs..

i.e beat him up,and floor him in the process.

    that is all.

There is one reason why I would not exclude the possibility of Joe beating Moorer:

Moorer was not really strong mentally. Joe maximized his strenghs throughout his career and was incredibly consistent. He certainly was one of the strongest fighters mentally of the past 20 years. Just because Moorer could and should beat Joe, based on his win over Holyfield and nine great rounds against Foreman doesn't mean he would put it all together when it counts. Suppose Moorer is as unmotivated in the early rounds as he was against Holyfield and Joe piles up points...I don't believe trying to make a comeback late in a fight works well against Joe. Maybe Joe could frustrate him and make him fight below his real ability.

Joe would have gotten knocked the **** out .. Moore carried his power thought the full 12 rounds with decent speed. I don't see Joe being able to keep more from closing the distance with combos. Moore was not a inside fighter and preferred rain hard shots behind a long hard jab. Then he would follow up with hard combos. I see pressing the fight and winning a decision.

Heavy weight michael moore was different fighter from Lt Heavy weight Moore.
At Lt Heavy moore was a lot more aggressive faster with his hands a feet and really went into the ring with seek and destroy attitude vs his box carefully at heavy weight persona . At Lt Heavy Moore is much too strong for joe.

Michael Moorer was a scary MF at 175. I don't know if Joe could beat him at that weight. I definitely don't think it would have been a blowout either way.

Calzaghe is known for hitting the deck early in fights, Moorer was one of the most powerful light heavyweights of all-time, knocking out every man he faced at that weight class. If fellow poster wants to critize Moorer's resume, Calzaghe's at 168 was on going joke from 97-06, the man fought mainly C+ oppenents in and around his own backyard. Defending the lame WBO belt for nearly 9 years until he fought Lacy in the march of 06.

I see Calzaghe making a mistake of trading with Moorer early and getting knocked out for his troubles. It will look something Herol Graham/ Julian Jackson all over again.

The more I think I about this matchup I think you might be correct. 175 would also be Moorer's weight at 168 he would probably be too weak and Calzaghe would run all over him. But at 175, he was so fast and powerful. If Calzaghe was sloppy early he may only have the chance to make one mistake.

I think Cazaghe is a talanted fighter, but the guy has no pop in his punch to back Moorer off. Yeah he could flury on him, but that will just leave him open to get countered. Calzaghes chin's pretty good, but it's not great. He gets caught with anything remotely big from Moorer, he's going down.

I think alot of people forget how powerful Moorer truly was at light heavyweight, so much so he became an above average puncher at heavyweight. I just see Joe getting brave with Moorer, as he did with the likes of Lacy, Hopkins, and others. The only differnce being Moorer is a real homerun puncher, similar to Jackson at 154 and 160. All it takes is one mistake with guys like that and your night is over. Joe makes mistakes, and leaves himself open way too much, Moorer will find that opening in 12th rounds.

Yeah, sure... Double M had all wins by kayo and stepping up to the Hwt Division to become a main contender along with Riddick Bowe, Lennox Lewis, all after Evander Holyfield's unified title... And Joe C would beat him? No way in Hell! Michael Moorer power shoots away str8 in Calzaghe and it's all ova!
