Joe Calzaghe's 46-0 vs Floyd Mayweather's 42-0

Is this a joke ? Mayweather resume is way better than Calzaghe. Mayweather resume at 130-135 alone is better than Calzaghe resume. just look at their wins.

Calzaghe

Woodhall - Decent win but what makes Woodhall any better than Angel Manfredy ?
Reid - Decent Win
Bika - Bika is an average fighter, who didnt beat anybody world class. He has never
even won a world title.
Lacy - Average fighter, hypejob. What good fighters did Lacy even beat ?
Eubank - Decent Win, despite Eubank being past his prime. It was still a decent win
Mitchell - LMAO. Mitchell was ****. The fact you consider it a solid win, shows how poor
Calzaghe resume. Floyd win over Corley was better than this.
Kessler - Very good Win
Hopkins - Excellent Win. Despite Hopkins being 42, Hopkins did go onto beat Pavlik
and Pascal. Hopkins was the best at 175 at time.
Jones - Meaningless win. Jones was completely and getting knocked out for fun.

Mayweather

Manfredy - What makes Joe's win over reid or Woodhall any better than Floyd's win
over Manfredy ???

Hernandez - Solid win, Hernandez was the 130 King when Floyd fought him.

Corrales - Excellent win. Corrales was in his prime and a very dangerous. Corrales beat
Very good, World Class oppostion, he beat Castiilo, Freitas, Casamayor,
Manfredy, Gainer.

Castillo - Excellent win. The first was close, could have gone either way but Floyd
Gave him a rematch and clearly beat him in the rematch. Castillo was in his
Prime and was great at 135. He beat alot of solid oppostion like Casmayor,
Corrales, Johnston, Lazcano, Diaz. He was the 135 King when Floyd fought
him.

Gatti - Gatti was limited. Decent win

Judah - Very good win. Judah was in prime. Your point about Judah being a 140lber
is stupid, because him and Judah were the same size. Floyd moved up in
weight to fight Judah. Judah had been fighting at 147 for 3 straight years,
Floyd had only had 1 fight at 147 at that point.

Baldomir - Decent win. Baldomir was the Lineal Champ.

De La Hoya - Very Good win. Despite Oscar being Past his prime he was a World Class
fighter.

Hatton - Unbeaten and in his Prime

Marquez - Good win. Marquez went back to Welterweight and beat Pacquiao

Mosley - Very good Win. Mosley may have been Old but he was coming off a
Excellent Knockout win over Margarito. Mosley was still a big threat. Even
Freddie Roach wouldn't let Mosley fight Pacquiao in 2010 because he fought
Mosley was too good of a figther and too much of a risk.

Ortiz - Decent Win. Better than Calzaghe wins over Reid and Woodhall.

Cotto - Very good Win.


Floyd's resume is WAY Better than Calzaghe. Floyds wins over Hernandez, Corrales, Castillo, Hatton, Oscar, Cotto, Mosley **** on Calzaghe wins over Hopkins, Kessler, Lacy, Eubank. Even Floyd's win over Gatti and Judah are better than Calzaghe wins over Lacy and Eubank.

 

Luciano Torrez was ****ing awful Vano- you can't have seen that fight dude. The guy was one of the worst imports ever including fat heavies.

 

The only really decent ATG win Calzaghe got was over Hopkins- but thats enough i'm afraid - couple that with his manifactured 46-0 and his undoubted talent and you have an ATG although a very under achieving one.

I don't think he'd have lived with a super middle Jones jnr in his prime more then 4-5 rounds.

 

Mayweather is in a different league entirely, h2h and p4p and ATG and HOF

Calzaghe's 46-0 is better than Mayweather's 43-0 in number only

In terms of resume and quality of work, Mayweather's is no doubt superior. Mayweather has truly been at the top of the sport for over a decade, in my opinion he's the best fighter of the last 20 years, I know others will criticise that, but it's my opinion and I'm entitled to it. Watching Mayweather is a joy, because of the high skill level on display, use of the shoulder roll, ability to fight off the backfoot and on the front foot equally well. He's a rare fighter, a real throw back in terms of his skills. I just wish the Pacquiao fight had been made back in '09

 

Mayweather of course, though a number of his wins above 135, despite being against nice looking names(Marquez, Mosley, DLH etc) are a lot better on paper than when actually scrutinised properly.

Bad half decade(or more even) for talent around 140-154, despite there being plenty of good competitive evenly matched fighters around to make things entertaining.I doubt we ever see Floyd and especially Pac or MArquez move up so far with greater talent there.

Judah, Baldomir etc are a sorry crop of fighters and easy meat for a genuine talent a couple of divisions smaller.

I realise this thread was made before Mayweather- Cotto but seriously, there's not a discussion to it IMO. Mayweather is comfortably ahead; you can pick holes in his record like with anybody but he has a lot more quality on there than Joe. Calzaghe really has just 2 in Hopkins & Kessler but this point about him having 'the single best win' doesn't really wash IMO. Let me ask another question- who has the better record between Froch & Calzaghe? I think everyone would agree that it's Froch yet his best win doesn't stand up with Joe's against Hopkins.

What I'm trying to say is that a larger amount of good wins is better than one stand alone quality victory. And whereas Froch probably has enough of them to put his record ahead of Joe's, Mayweather has considerably more.

 

loads of people have better records than Calzaghe, why is he even being compared to Mayweather?

 

It's a crime against boxing to compare Calzaghe to Mayweather in any way.
