kessler is probably joes best win. mayweather has 6,7 fighters better than that on his record.

 

i dont think anyone's gonna look at joe calzaghe's record and say, theres no sven ottke on there.
but at the end of mayweathers career, if there's still no manny pacquiao on his record, i think its gonna hurt floyd as to his standing as a all time great.
calzaghe fought and beat everyone there was, mayweather's record is all about who's not on it, rather than who is.

 

Totally, It was hard enough wanting Joe to win hoping Roy would jack it in and Joe be undefeated. When he was ****ing around in his face i started hoping Roy would pull out that magical lead left hook.

 

If Joe could of put Steve Collins and Glen Johnson that would of done his resume a fair bit of good. Collins he was unlucky with the circumstances, Johnson fight breaking down 3 times didn't do him any good.

 

Mayweather comfortably.

 

In terms of ability? You have no idea about Conteh, his style or his opponents, so to try and argue the reverse would be pointless.

Mayweather has an underrated resume IMO. A fair bit better then Joeys, Calzaghe beat pretty much everybody in his era so can't really complain about his resume it is very solid.

Mayweathers is better IMO.

I'd say Mayweather, close but clear.

I would like to add that Mayweather had a lot more viable challengers around to fight than Joe did, there are no major standout fights that should have happened for Joe - but Mayweather could do with adding Pac, Marg, Cotto and Williams onto his record - ofcourse there's still time. ;-)

 

Before i opened the thread I'd have instinctively said floyd and in fact thought it ludicrous to even ask

On reflection its actually quite tight

Floyd has a high number of names who were not in their best weight class / at their best / both

Will still plump for floyd but as ever, it has to be said that his cherry picking hurts his legacy
