Joe Calzaghe's 46-0 vs Floyd Mayweather's 42-0

If Hopkins had packed the sport in that night he lost Joe's resume would be worse. I remember people saying he squeaked past a old and coming to end Hopkins. How wrong them people was and Joe owes a lot to Nard for his recent run of form.

 

Shame he didn't fight Pavlik when the opportunity was there, he would of totally schooled him probably worse than 'nard!

Yeah, hence why it'd be a worse schooling - Pavlik had nothing to worry Joe, absolutely nothing.

I'm never sure if Joe should have taken that fight - or if he's benefited more from having Hopkins do it instead.

 

The Hopkins fight should have been rematched, pure and simple. It's more than clear why it wasn't. Instead we had to suffer the Roy Jones total and utter nonsense.

At least Floyd rematches his close fights.

 

Having a single better win means **** all.Oliver McCall has a single better win on his record[Lewis]than say Larry Holmes but it doesnt matter because McCall is ****.

Calzaghes record is rubbish,theres no getting away from that.He spent years wasting his career making crap defences against utter crap.Mayweathers beat something like 16 former world champions and gone through five weight divisions.
Easily Floyd Mayweather has the better resume.

 

The way Ward totally destroyed Kessler was embarrassing.

 

Theres no prime Hopkins on there.Prime Jones.He pulled out THREE TIMES to face Glen Johnson.He could have fought Clinton Woods.Tried for a fight with Dariusz Michalczewski.Instead he chose to stay in the terrible 168 division fighting rubbish.

People say the same about Roy Jones.Talking about the guys he could have fought but didnt but the fact is he still has great names and a great legacy just like Mayweather.

A better thread would be Calzaghes resume Vs Frochs resume.

 

Calzaghe is no Roy nor Floyd, never has been, never will be and his fans can talk all day long that he is, but the fact is, he is leagues below them and always widely will be seen as such.

 

Indeed, going by that rule, Randy Turpin is the greatest British boxer ever with his win of SRR.

When I say styles makes fights, I mean that it's potentially a completely different fight and there's no real way to gauge how it would have gone. Hopkins dismantled him with clever footwork and quick straight rights. Sure Joe would've probably outworked him and busted him up pretty bad too but he wanted Roy Jones on his record we'll never know.

But yet again Joe Calzaghe seems to be getting credit for something he didn't even try to do.

 

Roy Jones has A better resume than Floyd. Also has a lot of meaningless fluff on there, but Toney was an ace win. Roy also looked much better at his best. Ruiz>Baldomir as well.

When ranking Jones, it really comes down to how much slack you cut him for his devastating past prime losses.

 

Really. You should no better than that. Lets attack the facts.

1. At Junior Lightweight he took the title of Hernandez, defeated the unbeaten, dangerous Corrales( may his blessed soul rest in perfect peace) in a unification, Jesus Chavez, the other Hernandez, Goyo Vargas amongst others
2. At Lightweight he fought the champion and best fighter Castillo and beat him twice, the first time with an injury.
3. At Junior Welterweight he beat the WBC champion who was Arturo Gatti. I am not saying Gatti was the best in the world but he had become champion of the prestigious WBC title. You don't turn down the chance to fight for a great and historic belt such as the WBC title. He also defeated DeMarcus Corley who had been a champion as well as Mitchell. It is not PBF's fault that he never got to fight Tyzu at 140 who unfortunately had some time out with serious injuries when PBF was in this division. Nevertheless he subsequently dealt with Tyzu's conqueror Hatton.


4. At Welterweight he defeated the much bigger Carlos Baldomir winning every second of every round who had defeated the the unified champion Zab Judah. PBF also defeated Judah one of thetop welterweights at that time. He beat Mosley who destroyed Margarito a top rank fighter Bob Arum and others tried to claim he was avoiding. Really! Where anyone would avoid the limited Margarito is beyond me. I love Miguel Cotto but the truth is Bob Arum never wanted to match him against PBF especially after PBF left Top Rank.

5. He beat De La Hoya who had recently destroyed Mayorga and was the concensus best at 155 pounds.

6. Marquez was ranked by many as pound for pound number 2 when PBF beat him.

7. Vicious Victor Ortiz was younger, hungrier,stronger etc. When PBF kicked his ass then he was young and green.

Some objectivity please would not go amiss.

This does not look like the resume of some of who has ducked the biggest challenges rather when he taxes their ass then people think the guys were not that good after all.
