I think he was a really good fighter. You couple those wins with the long reign, and being unbeaten, and you clearly have a HOF worthy fighter. Some fans go overboard.
hes in good company with mayweather and leonard. joe was a great fighter even look at his weigh in with hopkins absolutely no fear! not a lot of guys can say that. just didnt do enough against anyone that you could say he would beat prime elite fighters. no evidence what so ever. smart to get out undefeated but unfortunetly will go down in history behind hopkins, jones, toney etc.
Yes, but nobody else is using it as their best win(or close to it, for me it's Kessler)and lay claim to ATG status or to being a legend killer.
He's two best win are kesler and Hopkins. His's kesler win is looking crapier every day. Hopkins win is looking beter, but was a contraversial fight. Great fighter in a **** poor divsion. Personaly think ward and froch will achive more when there career ends.
I'm not sure any of his fans ever claimed him to be the greatest. Show me a quote. And most fans are just a bit pissed off he didn't get ANY worldwide acclaim. Kessler just beat Froch and Froch is looking pretty good right now Hopkins is STILL in many p4p top 10's Lacy was ruined as a fighter by Calzaghe Other than these joe still has some pretty solid wins. Its NEVER going to be the best resume of all time but at the same time he can't really do anything about that now can he? He was pretty good to watch in his younger years it just pisses me off that the wider audience only got to see him post hand problems and give him that stupid ****ing nickname. Probably Joe's fault but again he can't do much about it now. I doubt he really gives a **** anyway
There are two types of HOF'ers in my opinion. There's the Walter Payton, outstanding talent and performance, obvious Hall of Famer. And then there's the Emmit Smith, decent talent but racked up his stats through longevity and a great line more than dominace, variety. IF Joe is a Hall of Famer, it's as the latter.
Legit Champion at Two-Weights. Undisputed at 168lbs. P4P Elite. Undefeated 46-0 record. Took forever to unify. Fought a tonne of bums. Scraped past his greatest opponent - a 45 year old Hopkins. Good wins over a few solid belt holders.
actually, that song is better than his whole career. the brits are the best at music, can't say that for fighting though.
He would decimate you with a pawed rangefinder jab in the opening stanza you Glass Jawed paedo. :dead:dead:dead
