Well, it was better than the John Ruiz impersonation Hopkins did with all of his clinching, hugging, grabbing, holding and faking low blows. Hopkins performance and strategy were a disgrace. That is the only way he could neutralize Calzaghe. Had he not done those things he would have lost bad on the scorecards.

I completely agree, see you're a great poster as long as chins and Jones aren't involved. :good
I often criticize the ref in the Hatton/Tszyu fight, and I gotta say Cortez was also biased and let BHOP get away with alot of ****.

Both fighters looked horrible in that fight. I think BHOP was very concious of not allowing JC to flurry and unload on him so thought very negative and try to make it messy.

Well, gee, if that's what actually happened, why didn't Hopkins just hit Calzaghe more?

Let me guess - he thought he was winning the fight and took a few rounds off?

No, no, hang on...he didn't bother to turn up for that fight?

No, hang on, I think I've got it - he's too old but still managed to make Calzaghe look bad, so if he had wanted to he could have stepped it up and beaten Calzaghe convincingly?

Any of the above, or have you had a bit more time to come up with more excuses for Hopkins losing to the 'slapper'?

To the OP - yes Calzaghe looked horrible, but Hopkins looked even worse. Hopkins spent 11 rounds spoiling and running - apart from round 1, when he KD'd Calzaghe and then realised Calzaghe wasn't going to back off and quiver in fear. Hopkins did nothing but spoil, hold, and cheat for the remainder of the fight.

Ask yourself why he felt the need to use those tactics.

Hopkins didn`t want to get KO`d so he fought like a petrified schoolgirl instead.

That version of Hopkins was created by Calzaghe :deal

Kessler would be hoodwinked by Hopkins.

Dawson would struggle - Hopkins would just smother and spoil like he did with Calzaghe.

Johnson - maybe, but it's maybe.

During his bout against Kessler Emanuel Steward said of Calzaghe "you are looking at a special fighter" :hi:
