OK, so why did you question why Calzaghe fans were talking about this fight because after all " It's really not the Rumble In The Jungle. Let it go."

It's OK for you to give opinions, but nobody else? Is that it? :yep

I don't know who Sean is. I would never pretend to be an equal of McGrain on here, I am but a pale imitation. However, I have heard Sweet Pea (IMO, the most knowledgable guy in ESB) come out with many more vicious verdicts in my short time here. People make similar remarks all the time about Mora, Malignaggi etc, it doesn't mean they hate them, it's just a remark on how you don't rate their power. I don't rate Calzaghe's at the top level because he has no KOs in 23 fights. I don't think there is anything wrong with a sarcastic remark on that front. I've heard you say worse about B-Hop and others.

I think people were going on about the Lacy fight for far too long, making out it was something it wasn't. I can say so if I want. I don't see what your problem is with that.

I don't see what your problem is with people going on about it for longer than you wanted them to.

Nobody was forcing you to read it.

Yeah, I'm not completely neutral regarding Calzaghe and have never exactly hidden it

Difference between you and maybe Sweet Pea who might make a passing comment on somebody like Malinaggi or Mora is they do not spend a huge amount of their forum time talking about them.

"What a banger" was not sarcastic?

Come on, spare us. You are not neutral at all, or even close. You are as bad as the supposed huggers that you set out to "correct". :happy

Nobody was keeping me from writing what I thought either. We could go on like this all night. It's boring though.

All that means is that the majority of the mainstream American public are clueless about boxing.

Lewis vs Klitschko wasn't PPV either.

    Agreed.

You can say what you want. No point in me telling you otherwise.

CALZAGHE FANS CAN SAY WHAT THEY WANT. NO POINT IN YOU TELLING THEM OTHERWISE.

Do you get it now? :yep

Maybe I am, maybe I'm not. I don't think I am, but who am I to judge myself? All I know is that when I rate Joe Calzaghe, personal likes and dislikes don't come into it. I look at his career and his resume and his performances, and I just don't rate him as highly as most others seem to, that's all. I spent a lot of time on the subject because (a) he is the most discussed guy on this forum, (b) I'm on here a lot, (c) I strongly object to fighters with weak resumes being viewed as great. But many of my posts praise Calzaghe - if you don't believe me I can send you some privatemail.

And if you check back on my recent posts, you will see me being equally critical of Shane Mosley for the same reason. And yes that was a sarcastic comment, but the guy's fans irritate me intensely, I've never hidden that. The way he is overrated on here is quite sensational! :good

Then we may as well end this whole forum now then! :patsch

That's all okay, and understood. I used to feel the same way about Pacquiao, when Pacmania was rampant and Pacdbest and his followers were on here talking **** and disrespecting ATG's. It seems to have died down.

You just don't need to pretend like you're all objective, its too obvious. Fans can cause hate too, even if its not a personal grudge towards the boxer in question.

I know what the word 'hate' means. So do you. To say I 'hate' is just stupid. I rate the guy in my top 25 fighters of the past 25 years, I have him 6th best British fighter in history, I have him 1st best supermiddleweight ever in terms of achievement, 3rd best h2h. The fact that I dislike his fans and am severely critical of his resume cannot be considered 'hate', when I rate him so highly. Unless you have a different understanding of the word 'hate' to myself, and the English dictionary. As I have said a thousand times, he is a very talented boxer. However, as point of principle, resume is very important to me in rating boxers.

So why do you get so worked up and constantly pursue debate on Calzaghe if you rate him so highly? The sixth best British fighter in history does not come along too often. And top 25 in the last 25 years is not many.

There are one or two (including myself in the past) that do it just to wind you up, its just too tempting. You'd do better to just ignore it, Pacquiao has (or had) fans like it, Mayweather did, but these things die down and Calzaghe's time is coming.

Other than that I don't see anything ridiculous said about Calzaghe.

Oh, so you don't get it after all. :-(

The idea is to join in the threads on topics you want to talk about, and ignore the ones that don't interest you.

I thought you understood my point - that the thing that is boring and pointless is joining in a thread just to tell people you think they should stop talking about the topic.
    :yep

Things interest people that they do not necessarily think positively about. I am interested in the Second World War - it doesn't mean I defend the Nazis. And if everyone only joined threads about people they like, what a dull forum it would be.

I don't think this thread is called 'Calzaghe beat Lacy: A Celebration' actually mate, telling them to can the Lacy chat was in fact an attempt to get back on point :patsch

I think we have confirmed we are on different pages, let's just go our separate ways.
