That's plain wrong. He's possibly the most unique and one of the talented fighters around at the moment. People just dismiss it as "workrate" but it's more than that. Please watch the Kessler fight in full, it's a pugilistic wet dream in motion.
The guy has bad hands its a fact, credit to him for making the most of it. I am sure calzaghe is pissed off that he cant put the same power into his punches as he used to. He has had to change his punch power to protect his hands during fights and cant always land the punches he wants to. It makes his reign as a 10 year champ all the more remarkable.
You suggested they were. I said suggest. But back to the thread - pain from scar tissue is obviously a lot easier to box through than the pain of your bones in your hand snapping. Im no doctor, but im willing to put my house on this.
Every fighter who went against him said the same thing, before the fight. After the fight, they said those punches were harder than they thought they would be, and quite effective, in high numbers in a short interval, as he pounds them. Even Kessler said that!
No, you just judge all british fighters on Gary Lockett!!??. Does that mean you can judge all american boxers on Will McIntyre.
i've already told you why the record never tells a fighter's story - it's who he fought. and there's only someone out there "who will catch you" if you put yourself in the 'wage bracket' as them to get caught. i'm not pulling anyone's chain and - i'm not american. calzaghe is an excellent fighter, but the words 'special' and 'great' are reserved for fighters who transcend the sport by fighting by taking chances against the best fighters of their era - and in their prime. calzaghe (and warren) has never done that - or wanted to - and that's primarily the reason why people don't give him full respect.
Wow, Badintentions trotting out the same boring lines. It's funny how the Calzaghe haters never actually talk about anything else. Insecurity.
show me one of my posts where i've ever stated calzaghe was anything other than an excellent fighter. you're being childish because i promise you you won't find it. it's his matchmaking and his refusal to chase 'dream fights' with jones and hopkins in their prime that i'll attack him on - because the man never wanted them. he's a self-proclaimed businessman but tries in the same breath to sell himself as a 'legend' because he's 'undefeated'. calzaghe's one of the most talented fighters of this generation, and i've never stated anything different, but he's not 'special' or 'great' because he never dared to be. now who's insecure?
