You think that Johnson has a better resume than Calzaghe because Johnson was taking on (and losing to) dangerous fighters like Sheika, whereas Calzaghe was beating up bums like Sheika (a couple of months later)? Perhaps you can give an example from Antonio Tarver's first 20 fights of a situation where Tarver had to go fight a champion in front of a hostile sell out crowd in that fighters hometown, like Calzaghe (in his cosy and safe environment, apparantly) did against Delaney? No, of course you can't.
Glen Johnson lost to a number of "bums" Calzaghe gets criticised for fighting - and beating. The haters have stooped to new levels thats for sure. Glen Johnson above Calzaghe
judging from glencoffe's efforts at 168 i'd imagine his career would look something more like 12-33. the bloke got his **** pushed up in the SMW division on a regular basis. all sven ottke had to do was give him lateral movement to limit his in ring effectiveness.
Johnson allowed Clinton Woods and Omar Sheika to be competetive and in very close fights, even if you didn't like the decision. As if he wouldn't have dropped any of Calzaghe's fights. He would have lost to Eubank, Kessler, Reid, already has lost to Hopkins, already has been life and death with Sheika.
Johnson was 'as shielded and protected' as Calzaghe was. Johnson just kept losing to the same kind of fighters that Calzaghe was destroying, at exactly the same weight, at exactly the same time. In the obvious case of Sheika, not just the same kind of fighter, but exactly the same fighter, a mere couple of months apart.
How can that be when I have already shown that he has lost to a number of these fighters that Calzaghe was apparently so "protected" against or to similar level guys. Fighters on Calzaghe's list who would have beaten Johnson: Sheika (already has) Hopkins (ditto) Kessler Eubank Woodhall (stopped Branco who beat Johnson) Lacy (stopped Vanderpool who beat Johnson) I'll give him the benefit of the doubt with some of the others like Reid, Brewer, Mitchell and Starie who I could make a case for.
If you're special compared to a decent world championship class fighter capable of destroying Johnson's conquerors, marks you out pretty well to me. The first part of the post was complete bollocks, so Lacy and Kessler couldn't dent him but Ottke, Beyer, Lucas etc... would? Also I don't know why the word "hand" is in speach marks, it's common knowledge that the guy has pulled out more times than a serial ****** with hand injuries and fought through countless more!
Most fans in the USA cared A WHOLE LOT... until Lacy got his ass handed to him. Joe's punches have no effect? Before: This content is protected During: This content is protected After: This content is protected
I find it fascinating the way that Calzaghe fans always bring up the Lacy fight as proof he is a good puncher. That would be the last fight I would bring up if I was them. Calzaghe hit him with about 1000 flush unanswered shots, and couldn't stop him. I think he proved the opposite that night. He can punch, but he does not have much power at all.
I Know Hops is ugly, but I'm sure Calzaghe's punch is having some effect right here: This content is protected
Yeah, whatever. This forum was FULL of people claiming Lacy was a SMW Tyson and was going to KO Joe in 1 round. Deny it all you want. The point is that people outside of Europe DID care... right until your boy got manhandled. Then like Typical American "fans", you dump your guy as soon as he loses. Hatton fans still support Hatton through thick & thin. Tszyu fans in Australia and Russia supported him through his losses. Lennox's fans supported him after his losses. Face it, you are just bad losers. The very existence of this thread is proof.
You have no idea! This forum was filled with Americans caliming Lacy as the next big thing. Infact i created the thread ''Joe will annihilate Lacy''..... I wish to **** that we hadnt had a crash so we could go ressurect this thread and see what the real score was pre-fight. As I remember it it was mainly americans laughing at my thread title and how Joe had ''no chance'' against the ''next Mike Tyson''.
