Because like he showed when they fought Dawson is better than a 42 year old 175 pound Hopkins. Eubank was half retired.

No, but it's a good enough resume to prove that Joe Calzaghe was an awesomely skilled boxer?

I take it you didn't see Eubank v Thompson? You probably didn't even see Calzaghe-Eubank

Dawson was a nobody at the time, and his best win today (4 years later) is a Calzaghe leftover, who Joe beat 4 years ago.

Father time caught up with Bhop eventually, he probably wouldnt have been beaten if it was anyone else at 175 though so Dawson gets a little credit

but if you look back at my previous post youll see why i think Calzaghe beats Dawson

he was a great fighter,it was such a shame he didnt come into the lime light a few years earlier as his last few years were not his prime.but he still did us proud.i just wish he fought dawson before retiring.

the 2 biggest attributes calzaghe possessed was adaptability and the ability to produce his best when face with adversity.

when push comes to shove, those 2 attributes will always settle the boys from the men.

So which of your drivelling rants do you want like minded simpletons to believe?

Calzaghe only beat Hopkins because he was 42?

    or,

Hopkins was always ****, because he turned down a career high payday in 2002 to fight the truly dangerous Carl Daniels instead of Calzaghe?

It's a fairly simple choice for you.

No one here is saying that Calzaghe is the best ever, just that he was great, so why all the hate against him?

He had good handspeed and stamina. Good whiskers. If you can't see his weaknesses you aren't looking very hard.

He doesn't punch very hard, but otherwise, I can't really see any weaknesses?

lol at people still saying "A 42 yr old Hopkins..." as if Hopkins was some sort of grandfather when Hopkins fought with prolonged success up to 47 and beat some of the livest dogs AFTER Calzaghe beat him.

    When will you ****ers learn?

    Calzaghes Strengths
    Composure
    Ring Generalship
    Footwork
    Handspeed
    Angles
    Stamina
    Chin
    Strength (clinching, etc)

    Weaknesses
Hand Problems causing diminishing returns on power over the years
    Slow Starter
    Frank ******.

I really respected Calzaghe after the Hopkins fight. Not immediately, but after Hopkins continued to win against the best, it's hard not to, especially considering Calzaghe appeared to be on the verge of stopping Hopkins.

I think Calzaghe's workrate was too much for Hopkins during that fight. Hopkins couldn't keep up and looked to tire.

Actually, let me reiterate. By stopped, I mean Hopkins looked to tire to the point to where his defense would not be able to keep up with Calzaghe's offense, and he would be forced to either hold, foul, or fight his way out. And by fight I mean, he could either make it a war or he himself be a victim of one unless he is tactful enough to hold and punch.

This is, if the fight was allowed to continue.

Why does there always have to be a Hopkins/Calzaghe war in Calz threads gentlemen? Yes it wasn't a clear fight and I wouldn't have a problem with it being a draw but that is not Zaghes best accomplishment. Credit him more for the Eubank and Kessler fights. Anyways both are great fighters and I love watching them both. May even get a Zaghe career set before the end of this year he's growing on me. Weak record or not he fought who he could and lets be honest if he beat Dawson people would call him a hypejob and not credit Zaghe anyways. Eubank and Kessler were/are much better fighters and he beat them as well as being the best SMW ever. Damn great career and damn great fighter.

Strengths and Weaknesses have been covered and yep, that concludes what I'd like to say.....
