    Manny Steward said during the broadcast;

    "The first four rounds, after that Calzaghe got in his groove, much like he did when he fought Mikkel Kessler, and from that point on it was Calzaghe. And Calzaghe didn't fight as good a fight as he could've fought, and he still won decisively."

    Utter bull**** The Welsh Slapper never legitimately beat Hopkins he was given a gift decision. This was proven when Hopkins offered to go to Wales for a rematch & Cowardly Calzaghe ran off & retired.
    I'll bet Slappy is green with jealousy watching the man he is **** scared of STILL breaking records at 48 yrs old. Whats Slappy doing?? Well according to reports he's been sniffin, getting drunk, chasing ho's & killing little bunny rabbits Welsh Dragon ?? Rofl More like a welsh pony

    Hopkins looking good now highly depends on getting the right style of fighters.. Calzaghe's high work rate was going to be a problem for older Hopkins. Just as fast handed Taylor was a couple years earlier. I think the Hopkins of 02 would not have been as bothered by it..

    I don't buy into that Joe was shot either, he was still very close to prime, fighting at an elite level.

    Ive never gone with Rawlings scores he's too negative and doesnt score fights as they truly are , he tries to guess what the judges might score due to the environment etc which only justifies corrupt scoring......

    Prime Joe beats any Hopkins and I love Hopkins

    Joe is just better and Hopkins would never have been able to handle that man's workrate

    Calzaghe didn't do rematches. He only fought one rematch in his entire career and that was against Veit who forced himself into the mandatory position for the WBO title and demanded the shot be enforced the very day Calzaghe had his weight in for a fight against Magee that had to be cancelled.

    Further, Calzaghe was determined to retire after 2008 and, much like Lewis did with Tyson, he still wanted that big payday against the biggest name of his generation Roy Jones regardless of how shot Jones was at the time. Calzaghe was happy to take his victory over Hopkins and move on to get that fight with Jones before he retired.

    If Calzaghe didn't give Ried a rematch when he won a close fight against him back when he had years left to go in the sport then why the hell would he give Hopkins a rematch when he was determined to retire at the end of the year he beat him?

    That said, it was far from a gift decision. It was a close fight that some thought Hopkins won, some thought Calzaghe won and some thought a draw, and the case could be made for any of them. Any of those results would have been fine and perfectly legitmate though debatable, it's only the blind Calzaghe-haters and bitter Hopkins-fanboys who try to pass it off as a robbery.

    As for Calzaghe being "green with jealousy", I think you dont know the man's personality at all. He had very little ambitions as an active fighter and walked away on his own terms and at peace with his decision having accomplished everything he wanted to accomplish in the sport. He congratulated Hopkins on his performance beating Cloud for god's sake! What more do you want from the man? A public appology for winning a close fight against him in 2008?
