Nothing, mate. I do vividly remember it being a big deal at the time. Almost to the point where i think the fight was close to being called off because that wasn't the only incident that week, there was all sorts of stuff going on and they thought Reids people were up to something. Maybe Woodhall stopped him eating something else. But we'll go with what's in the book, although it's probabily more 'sexy' to say you chewed razor sharp glass...
it was about a month after the fight Richie told me that, so 11 years back, next time I see him, Ill get him to confirm it, might be my memory playing tricks, I gotta nip up and see him soon, and get some gloves signed for my boys, and try and organise a days fishing with him and Lennie
I'm not sure how much effort you put into writing those posts, but it's a load of steaming ****, sunshine. Go back to the general and stay there.
No effort at all. Thing is you can't debate against anything I have written atsch. Its so **** but you can't find one counter arguement . Maybe you should go to the general. There are quite a few there who cant debate against the facts and get swallowed up. You would fit in well :hi:
Dont you think there should of been more of an emphasis from Joe to seek out challenges, and if so, did he try hard enough to do that? I mean Jones, Hopkins, Toney had establish credentials, they didn't need to fight Joe to prove they were among the elite. To me if your not getting the respect you feel you deserve you would think he would of gone and fought for that respect by seeking out better opposition. I mean its almost like he wants the credit you get from beating the likes of Jones et al but wants to it by building a respectable record against solid fighters rather than going out there are earning it against elite level competition who's very name dictates you get respect if you manager to beat them. I dont think Joe was scared to fight these guys. He's always been a very confident guy, but I do think there might of been some apprehension on his part, or just plain old complacency cause it was easier to tick along getting good to decent paydays fighting solid or gimme fighters.
I don't see how you can give the reid fight to reid. It was a close but clear win IMO. Joe was pretty aweful that night and we all know about the hand. At the time I was a reid fan but I still felt Joe had won and from then on I followed Joe.
Think you are mixing two stories there. There is the story where Calzaghe and dad and woodhall and dad met at a service station (on the M4 I think) and had a meal together before their fight. And then there is a story of the meal before the reid fight and Woodhall stopping Calzaghe eating glass.
You're an idiot. Trying to argue over and over that Glen Johnson is good at middle, very good at light heavy but absolutely crap at super middle just proves that. Have you ever heard of good and bad runs of form? I'd gladly debate with you if you could come up with an interesting topic, or come up with a reasoned argument to any point I (or anyone else) makes on a particular subject. Or you can just carry on being a mong.
If Calzaghe had fought Jones, it would have basically ruined Jones reputation and would be a 'nothing' win.
