Jones knew who he was and mentioned possibly facing him several times, even back in 2000, before Roy had a change of decision and he mentioned Calzaghe again after he beat Woods, that I recall. Im sure there were other times also, so I think some try and rewrite it a bit, but he wasnt so unknowm for Jones to not know who he was
If jones had of beat Calzage , he may not have been that significant a name on his resume . That said I wish jones had fought those European guys instead of some if the poor opponents he fought
Stop saying -Shot, bloated, brittle hands, end of career Calzaghe who was new to the LHW Joe said many times he was starved at SMW and that he felt much better at LHW. He even said on the recent Sky Sports special about himself that he retired in the prime of his career. He walked away because he sensed a loss now that he was on the global stage and hard fights were unavoidable.
The difference is so glaring that if you can't see it with your own eyes, me verbally describing it to you won't help. You're eyes are beyond help from me or even any qualified eye-doctor. There is nothing anybody can do to help you. The damage is most likely in the brain.
You can call that preposterous all you like but in reality he is virtually unknown. How many casual fans know who the hell Calzaghe is?
Please stop quoting that idiotic piece of ****. I really didn't need to mistakenly read one of the insect's comments and that one was pure toxic. Is the drunken loser really hinting that Roy Jones Jr. was prime material when he fought The Pride of Wales' Pubs?
He's not. That's a really stupid thing to say. In 2007 or 2008, I forget, he won the sports personality of the year in the UK. That is as mainstream an event as occurs in sport in this country. It's on free-to-air television and your gran watches it. By definition, he is among the most famous, respected sportsmen this country has produced in the last ten years. In America, boxing seems to be more and more a marginalised sport, so I don't' know how famous fighting and beating two of the "biggest" American boxers of the past twenty years (one of them way past prime) would make an outsider, but Calzaghe did that, too. If you want to say that he would remain, after that, as a "virtual unknown" in your country I have no choice but to take you at your word, but it does seem strange to me. However, trying to insist that he is a "virtual unknown" full stop is preposterous, ridiculous, and it's frankly embarrassing that you are continuing to try to insist that something which very obviously isn't true, is true. You're wrong. That's all.
as he also walked away from the IBF title, sensing a loss after struggling with Bika. as he walked away from kesslers titles, realising he couldn't fight wbo bums anymore but had to face world class all the time such as froch (though to be fair, he was also after a retirement package from facing some aged legends). as he walked away from the ring LHW prize, in the knowledge that a prime LHW would have killed him if 40somethings were florrng him (although to be fair he was coming up to 37, really not a bad age to retire). as he walked away, by direct admittance, from tough fights (what Joe said in English, completely clear cut and undisputable). as he walked away from several world class fighters, instead choosing to fight a subdomestic repeatedly throughout his 10 year wbo reign (though to be fair, his diehard Cardiff fans were happy to pay up so why shouldnt he **** on them whislt they praised him? Joe wasn't a genial guy)
