Well his promoter does choose alot of easy touches but Joe still Is undeniably more talented than those guys.

If Calzaghe retires after one more fight, then Hatton has the chance to retire with a better resume than Joe.

Even if Calzaghe is more talented than Hatton, even the much maligned Hatton will probably end up with a better record.

So, Calzaghe best ever? No chance.

Joe's resume except the Tyszu win shits over Hatton's.

Hatton was horribly overrated, thank jebus Floyd left hooked him.

Thats exactly the line I take when saying you can make a case for Joe. I disagree though, Lewis fought and beat better men and should be allowed the odd slip up because of that. Thats why I always rank Ali over Louis.

Boxers really shouldn't be lorded and applauded for poor resumes that make them look good. It simply means that future boxers think why bother making the big fight if I will get the same appraise for fighting another tomato can.

It simply means the boxing fan misses out on future big match ups.

    Nobody looks good against Hopkins.

    It's what Hopkins does.

i agree with lennox lewis being a strong argument for first, with jimmy wilde taking 2nd. i'd put joe c near the top, with buchanan, lynch (who is terribly underrated), and benn (just a personal favourite). ted lewis had an incredible record but i just don't know enough about him to rate him

It's quite close really, because you can't say 'except Tszyu'

The Tszyu win is better than the Kessler win.
The way Hatton disposed of Castillo puts it at the same level as 43 year old Hopkins.
Hard to judge the Lacy win until Lacy is finished, because at the moment he looks like the ultimate hypejob and even a win over a gatekeeper like Collazo would match that.

Then Hatton will retire with guys like #7 ranked Lazcano, #2 Malignaggi, P4P#2 Pac on his record possibly? Which would give Ricky the edge on Joe....

Lewis gets off with some criticism though, maybe It's because he's British and won the Heavyweight title which a Brit didn't do since Fitz. The guys he fought after the 90's wern't as threatening as the guys he beat In the 90's.

Conteh doesn't get the respect he deserves for pure skills.

Herol Graham and Hamed were class too.

Floyd Mayweather is on Hattons resume as well. Should he win his fights against Pauli, Pac, maybe Witter (perhaps a rematch with Floyd or fight Cotto) it will elevate his resume above Calzaghe by some considerable distance.

This is a pretty good post with some pretty good names, but you basically can't have the list without Ted Lewis being on it, so roll up your sleeves and look him up. Wilde should be above Lewis in my view. Nice shout on Lynch, he is the forgotten man of British boxing.

Let Benn in and you bring Eubank with him...

He's got more top contenders on his resume than any HW since Joe Louis. He fought almost no soft touches at all. Perhaps the slips were inevitable.

Maybe Calzaghe could have fought a similair number of very good figthers without losing the two fights, but we'll never know.

Joe Calzaghe can't fight really. All he does is slap, slap, slap. No Power. No poise. No heart. He would be beaten easily by any decent fighter who was half talented.
