    It's not even close.

The Kessler win was a clean win over a prime elite fighter, the Tszyu win was a foulfest over a fading fighter who was still elite. I'll take a decisive clean victory over a competitive foulfest personally.

Wrong again. Castillo was utterly shot, Hopkins was not shot, he was sustained on the same 'past his prime, conservative effectiveness' style that had been gaining him wins as of recent. And please don't compare where Hopkins and B level Castillo rank all time.

Even if you believe Collazo matches it, all wins are not created equal, Calzaghe utterly dominated Lacy in every minute of every round and Hatton barely got the decision, BIG difference.

Calzaghe has quite a few Lazcano and Malignaggi level fighters on his resume, Pac's too small.

Hatton's also been KTFO, nice try though.:p

What about Randy Turpin? people always try to make out im anti-english & all that nonsense, but I will happily admit that I think Randys win over the greatest fighter of all time Sugar Ray Robinson puts him in pole position as the greatest brittish boxer ever.

Does it get any better than beating SRR at the time in his career Randy did?

Cue someone saying Sugar Ray Robinson was a bum and Calzaghes win over Kessler was more impressive. :nut

Lazcano is a tune up fight. Lazcano and Malinghnaggi are different level fighters. Pac is the same height as Hatton.

It's poor to ridicule Hatton for taking on a fight against the P4P no 1. Calzaghe would have been "KTFO" too if he had had the guts to get in the ring with prime Roy Jones jr (Calzaghe hid from all the elite). Instead a 43 year old grandpa put him on his arse and mashed him up, only to lose by a contentions Split decision to slaps.

Calzaghe may have struggled V a 43 year old but people forget hes nearly 37 himself and hes a speed fighter, thats the first thing to go, Cal is way past his prime himself, if Hopkins hadnt bottled it 4,5,6 years ago whenever it was we would have been able to gauge it better.

He had a number of wins after that defeat including one over future champ Jim Watt.
I'm a big fan of Calzaghe but no way is he the best Brit ever.

    Ted Lewis
    Lennox Lewis
    Wilde
    Berg
    Lynch
    Driscoll.
I'm sure I'm neglecting to mention a few others.

i think it's up for argument.

no way do i discount calzaghe's claims to be the best ever brit.

his quality of opposition will always let him down a bit.

but his longevity deserves major props.

It has to be either Lewis or Wilde.

Calzaghe has a good shout for a top 5 place.

you see there's flaws in your argument..what about his quality of oppositions, and please mention old and past his prime when speaking about hopkins, lacy who was overrated(charles brewer was better than than hype)

Hatton struggled because he fight differently than joe as you knew hatton is more of a slugger. Styles..man, styles

Lewis wasn't undefeated like joe because he clearly took on the best out there and rule the HW division.

You can't add that Joe ruled the SMW division, he ruled it only after defeating Lacy then kessler. You can't call ruling the SMW division for years for just holding on to that WBO title. Ottke holds 2 belts in the same time frame joe had that WBO belt.

Sure you can say that ottke was a fraud and had so many robberies but still the fact remains, he was more known by that time rather than joe.

Why didn't joe fought him? They're both european..both champs, if he did fight him and won against him he would be universally recognized even before.

You can argue again, what if he gets robbed? judges would just rob him..bull****, brewer fought him twice and he was american. Joe could have defeated him and not worry about getting rob because he's the great right?

If he had all belts before, do you think jones would not take notice of him? You need to do **** to get recognize!

he's born march 23, means he just turned 36 when they fought on april

its very obvious you're trying:patsch why not say hopkins is nearly 44?:rofl

You're a brit, i understand the joe love but why discredit fighters such as lewis. Lewis was clearly the best, and he's a brit!
