Duran and Buchanan are my two all time favourites. Duran did go downstairs in the 13th round with a brutal shot to the old crown jewels, but in any case Duran was taking Ken apart. Buchanan spent time hospitalised and needed surgery, but not as a result of the low blow. In that fight Duran looked wilder than I have ever seen him, before or after, and Buchanan would have needed a baseball bat to keep him off of him.
its because at what i said, he didn't do nothing to get recognized.. its not like you can just challenge RJJ right away by that time when RJJ was the man. He was like a high risk low reward by that time so its just the obvious choice not to fight with him. Refer to my other post on what he should have done
Great Champions.....exclude the word great from Eubank Reid and Kessler ....Hopkins yes but he was past his prime. Naseem Hamed fought better opposition in 5 years as champion then Calzaghes 10. He also fought in the US several times fighting a peak P4P fighter in Barrera. More props to Naz and also to Hatton.. Frank Warren would never have let Hatton fight Floyd in the US....the same way he would never probably let Calzaghe fight a prime B-Hop. Props to F.Warren and his management....u have created a great illusion that some esb numb nuts buy into.
Even though he lost a remtch, he still beat the best P4P fighter in the history of the sport. You cant take that away from Randolph Turpin. I see some in here saying that the tartan legend Ken Buchanan is the best ever, & I would love to say he was, but Im an honest man, & Randy Turpin does it for me. He beat SRR, & thats all that matters. Calzaghes wins pale in comparison.
I'm a massive Calzaghe fan, but only the clueless and ill-informed could make such a statement. This kind of bold claim is made by part-time journalists that know approximately **** all about the history of the sport, and people buy it He would be lucky to make top 5 in all honesty
