Calzaghe made Hopkins look like a fool and that fight was in Hopkins' home turf..................Ward will only fight in his home town with his personal referee, judges, boxing commission, etc. Ward's best punch is his heat butt.........

What do Calzaghe and Vlad have in common?

They both made a career of fighting and beating bums.

Roy Jones Jr is the best Super-Middleweight of all time. You do realize if England didn't get support from the US before the US and Soviet Union joined in WW2, Germany would have blown England out of the water. That was also the last time England was considered a Superpower. Now the UK has to do what the US tells it to do. Think about it, it took less than 200 years for the US to become the most powerful country in the world, at the same time England lost most of its territory and was surpassed by a few countries in economy and military strength.

Everyone's circumstances are different. The top U.S. based fighters hardly ever have to travel. Everything is set up for them at home. They fight for the biggest promoters, on the biggest networks, and the majority of their competition is based in their own country. Floyd Mayweather has never needed to travel. Neither did Ray Leonard, even though he did. Can you not see the difference between their circumstances and Joe's?

You might call it unfair, but that's the way it is. Any top, non U.S. based fighter, travels to the U.S. at some point to progress their careers. There's countless examples to give. Joe should have gone over much sooner than he did.

In terms of actual ability I think he's under rated. He was very talented, very fast, coordinated, good power, granite chin, superb foot work, insane stamina and work rate and he was also very intelligent in the ring and could adapt mid fight. He would have given anyone trouble in their primes.

But his legacy is seriously lacking. He basically wasted his prime years and his resume shows this. To compare his achievements to another British fighter I would say Hatton was a good comparison if he retired after the Collazo fight. 2 division champion, held a minor title for several years before unifying then moving up a division having 2 wins, one controversial.

I remember when Calzaghe was voted the best British fighter ever. Calzaghe was never that good, he belongs in the top 10 British fighters ever but his achievements simply do not warrant him being rated anywhere near the top.

why do you want Ward to fight Kovalev and Adonis when they turn 40something? Andre Ward doesn't do that crap. That's a Crapzaghe thing.

I am one person who knows Calzaghe was one of the top fighters ever. He dominated too many good fighters and beat Hopkins and Jones( I know they were older), but he still won and my gut feeling is great fighter. How can it be denied. Even going back to Eubank

I must admit I am an american, but I respect Joe and think of him as just as great as Jones and Hopkins. The guys he beat were solid and he at times easily handled them. The only regret I have is that Joe did not fight longer, so he could have proven what I already knew about his greatness. That is boxing. Some fighters are overrated, and others underrated, and personality of the fighters has a lot to do with it.

How did the US save Britain? Simple

    1) Lend Lease and other more secret agreements. US "leased" Britain arms, ammunition, tanks, planes, ships, fuel oil and other supplies.

    2) Troops. Britain couldn't have beaten Germany, even with USSR's help, because they didn't have the numbers. True even today. Tony Blair came crying to Clinton over Kosovo and Bush Jr over Iraq because UK doesn't have men or resources to do anything on their own.

US didn't jump in at the last minute. America joined in Dec 41. War ended in 45. When British PM Winston Churchill heard about Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor, he breathed a sigh of relief and said "We have now won the war". Even he knew Britain couldn't get it done without the US.

Not just Britain. US saved Australia and New Zealand. After the British lost Singapore--worst military defeat in British history--US took over total responsibility for defense of Australia due to Britain's impotence in the Pacific (a promise made by FDR to Churchill). Some strategic moves and battles in 42 in the Pacific were done to keep Japan away from either invading Australia or having a airbase to strike Australia. (EDIT--Coral Sea NOT Midway which had little if anything to do with Australia) Most Brits forget about the Pacific War. Probably because after Singapore they considered their war against Japan a "lost cause" and the fact they were losing in the war to the more immediate threat of Nazi Germany.

Plus you failed to even mention the last part of my statement because you know it's true and it took less than 200 years for the US to become he most powerful country in the world or how many countries were surpassing England and how England lost most of its territories. Now England needs to wait for the US to do something in order to have their own reaction to what they want to do.
