Am seeking advice and counsel for a book I'm writing -- a sparring partner of Jack Johnson's, probably white, was active in Buenos Aires, giving boxing lessons, for a time between 1920 and 1924. My best guess so far is Joe Choynski -- can anyone help me sort this out? Thanks --
Frank Hagney, a former sparring partner of Jack Johnson's, boxed in Argentina & Uruguay around that period. He was Johnson's sparring partner leading up to the 1915 title fight with Willard, in Havana.
Hagney was in Argentina in December 1917 , he was Luis Firpo's opponent in Firpo's debut. Hagney had 2 fights in Uruguay in 1918, but then went to the US. He appeared in several films as a tough guy/stuntman and there was an article about him in the B I in the 70's.
