@ the flack Cortez is catching for not letting Hatton get away with rabbit punching and excessive clinching. I guess people expected Cortez to let him get away with murder like Davis Paris in the Tszyu fight.
i ****in hate how hatton fights all he does is lean his whole dam body into his opponent and take a nap
The ref did a fine job. He didnt let them fight out of clinches because they couldnt fight out of the clinches. Hatton had Mayweather in a headlock or Mayweather had Hatton in an armlock. Netither fighter would have been able to fight out of those clinches.
Punch never went near Mayweathers head it hit clean air. Why did Mayweather not get warned for turning his back in the middle of a fight for no reason at all? Cortez was shocking in Hatton Mayweather but then again Ricky Hatton was nowhere near his best either and had the tactics of a dead bear.
like i said before, he wasn't there to ref the fight, he was just there to prove a point...the point being that he wasn't gonna let hatton clinch not even once.....i ****en hated joe that night, they should've got smoger, joe is way too into himself when he's reffing.....he'd rather keep his rep than do a good job...
Here's the funny thing about this fight. Whenever they did fight on the inside, Floyd was getting the better of Hatton. He did a much better job of angling his body, while Hatton was more squared up. This allowed Floyd to get of uppercuts to the head and the body. He was also able to create room with his shoulder/forearm and blast Hatton with straight rights and hooks. Most of Hatton's infighting consisted of him hitting Floyd in the shoulder or the back of the head. The rest of the time they were close, one of them was bear hugging the other, or someone was in a headlock, or an armbar. Those had to be broken up.
Hatton had more then enough time to stop that punch, he knew he was swinging for the back of Mayweathers head.
I told you he'd be biased. Which is why I was hesitant to pick any winner in this fight. A better ref would have been Steve Smoger. Someone who wouldn't have been partial (well, maybe). Hatton really got a taste of his own medicine though. He'd gotten away with roughing up lots of guys over in Manchester. So now he knows what it feels like to not have that partiality.
Funny none of these guys complained when Cortez was chosen as the ref for this fight they said it was a good choice. Nor did they complain when he refed the JLC fight.
Maybe so but when I first heard it was Cortez I was on here saying it'd be a biased fight. All the way up to this fight.
