Again Again Again.... Pac/JMM I, Jmm had 2 chances was wobblying around in after the 2nd KD. There is absolutely no difference about either fight. Except the same ref made 2 different decisions.
and Kirkland had been downed x3 from a non puncher who was no doubt brought in to lose. No probs with the stoppage and i am no fan of Cortez but this fight was not goin' past the opening round
Make Márquez - Pacquiao an exception, not the rule. I'd say 80% - 90% of fights where a fighter gets KD 3 times in a round get stopped by the ref. Stop arguing. If you keep bringing up Márquez - Pacquiao I'll flood you with hundreds of examples of the opposite.
You mean if he DQ'd Pac for a serious illegal blow when Marquez was clearly down according to boxing rules? :think
I can understand why Cortez stopped this. But then again, he let William Joppy punch a helpless, defenseless fat old Roberto Duran from one ringpost to another for a full 2 minutes before stopping it. Duran took about a 50 unanswered power punches there and only his terrific beard kept him on his wobbly legs. Maybe it was the criticism Cortez got back then that made him get more cautious now.
Why is it an exception? Its only accepted because of the aftermath. JMM was given a chance and proved himself. Kirkland wasnt given the same chance. I wouldnt mind if it was a different ref it would be more understandable but Joe Cortez was the same damn ref for both fights.
Dude, can you read? It is an exception because it is! If about 80 - 90% of fights are stopped after 3 KD in one round (even if the rule is not in effect) Márquez's fight is an exception! Man, you must be very butthurt or must have lost a lot of money.
If it was the other guy that was knocked down 3 time in the same fashion, would you guys say the samething that the fight shouldn't be stopped?
Boom Boom is hurt, if Ishida had been knocked down 3 times, Boom Boom would be praising Cortéz. :deal
